For a moment, there is silence. He looked at me in the eye after he said that. I was stunned. And at the same time, confused. I really am. I still have so many questions in my head. I could hear him panting as the silence engulfed us both.
This silence went on for a second until we heard a doorbell rang. It was a doorbell from Mira’s bistro. I looked at it and I thought it was just the wind blowing. It isn’t. It was Mira, she just went out of the store and was about to lock the bistro. She saw us both with wide eyes.
“Oh! Gray! Juvia!” She seemed confused and shocked to see us both. Apparently, everyone in the guild knows about this misunderstanding or so whatever. “Juvia, I thought you’ve gone home. Are you two alright?”
I regained myself and smiled at her. “Yes, I’m alright. I was about to go home.” I didn’t bring myself to look at Gray.
“And you Gray?” Mira asked. But I didn’t hear anything. “Oh! Okay. I’m going home.”
She must’ve felt the awkward atmosphere that’s why she left. I took the opportunity to walk away from the scene too. I’m cold and I wanted this to be over.
I heard curses behind me and I knew it was Gray. I heard his footsteps too.
“Juvia, you’re not going home alone. Juvia!” He said as he walked towards me. “Shit! Don’t you walk away from me like that! Juvia!”
Because he has long legs, he has a longer step that’s why he was able to catch up on me.
“Arghhh!” He said in frustration. He was beside me now and I’m still walking, ignoring him. “Fine. If you want to walk home, then I’ll walk home with you too.”
That’s when he caught my attention. “Have you gone mad? Go home. You have a car. Used it.”
“No. Not until you come with me.” He said.
“You can’t do that.” I spat at him and start to walk again.
“Yes, I can. I already did.” I stopped walking, he stopped too.
“Stop, Gray! Go home. I can go home alone. We are done!” I said. I don’t want to argue anymore. If he’s not ready to say it then fine.
He grabbed my hand. “No, Juvia. We are not yet done. Please, Juvia.”
“Gray, stop it. It’s useless. If you’re not ready to say it, it’s fine. I’m not forcing you anymore. I just wanted to go home today. I need to study for my lessons.”
“Okay, fine. I’ll let you but please don’t say we’re done. Please…Juvia. I just can’t lose you.” He said. I could clearly saw in his eyes the sincerity but I don’t want to fell for that. Yes, he is sincere but he is still hiding something from me. “J-just let me walk you home.”
I just nodded because I don’t want to argue about it. So I let him walk me home. The cold wind brush into mine and I could hear it whistling. He didn’t talk. I didn’t too. Because I have none to say. If I ask, he wouldn’t answer it anyway.
“Lyon,” I was surprise when he talked but I didn’t look at him. I stared into nothingness as he speaks. “Lyon is my brother.”
My eyes widened as he said that. So why are we running away from him? It’s his brother.
“And Lyon…The accident.” I looked at him. Why is he stuttering? “Remember the accident we got into? I told you it was my fault.”
“But it was an accident.” I interrupted him. We stopped our tracks and I faced him.
“Yes, it was. But it’s still my fault. If I hadn’t driven so fast, we would’ve gone to that accident. If I could just slowly drive, if I wasn’t avoiding Lyon, we wouldn’t be in the hospital. You wouldn’t forget your memories.”
