Chapter 28
We went to this fancy restaurant we have been before. The first time I’ve met him, where there is a sea behind the restaurant. Gray opened the door for me. I smiled at him.
“Thank you.” I said as I stepped out of the car.
He offered me his arm and I accepted it. Of course, who wouldn’t? I was all smiles when I was seated in our seats. There were many people in the restaurant today. I looked at him.
“So this is the surprise? I like it.” I touched the flower decoration that was on our table. I look to my side and it was incredible. “I love it. This is a nice view.”
I said as I looked into the sunset. The color orange sky and the meeting of sun and ocean on the horizon. It was just so amazing.
“Glad you do.” Gray said as I watched the sun, setting. “I got the feeling that I’d be jealous of the sun.”
I blushed then looked at him. He chuckled when he saw me. “Uh…”
“It was a joke, Juvia. Actually, I love watching you.” I blushed again. He loves watching me!
“The sea was lovely. The sunset, too.” I said, shyly.
He nodded slowly in agreement. “Yes, and it is a lovely sight watching you, too.”
I blushed and was left silent. Gladly, the waiter comes to us and gives us the menu. I glanced at the menu and gave him my order. Gray did that, as well. Just like before, we’ve talked about the thing we did today. And we also talked about Gajeel and Levy. It was kind of cute, though. To see Gajeel with Levy, I never thought he would end up like that. I never thought we’ll end up this way. Living in such better environment.
“So, I was wondering of how did Gajeel become friends with the guild?” I asked, randomly. I figured I didn’t know that even if I had lost my memories. “I didn’t know that. I just knew that Mr. Makarov help him.”
Gray smiled as he drank his wine. “I don’t know where I should start…”
I raised an eyebrow at Gray, wanting to hear the next thing he will say. “Well, Gajeel isn’t the kind of person we easily get along with,” I laughed and he did too. “That guy is such a…sorry but may I just say this,”
“Go on, I won’t be mad.” I said, smiling like I’ve heard the biggest joke ever.
“He’s a bastard. A jerk” He finally said. I laughed. I knew he would say that.
“Well, everybody thinks he’s like that. That’s not new to me.” I shrugged. “We used to be bad anyway.”
“Used to.” Gray frowned. “That doesn’t mean you’ll stay that way.”
I nodded. Somehow, I used to think that I’ll be bad forever. That I’ll stay that way because we’ve never experience this kind of warmth. All my life has been in an orphanage. Also, Gajeel. It was really depressing. “Yes, and I don’t know who to thank. I mean, there was a kind of tragedy happened before.” I looked at him. I smiled. “And I wouldn’t be saved because of that man.”
He smiled, too. Then, I felt his hand on mine. “Do you want to know who save you?”
“A part of me does. I don’t know. I just want to thank him. If it wasn’t for him, my life will be messier as it can ever be.” I said. He nodded and he smiled.
I watched him as he stood up in his seat. “Well, let’s take a walk. I wanted to tell you something.”
He offered his hand to mine. I accepted it. I wonder what he’s thinking. It has always been like that. I watched him as we took the path through the beach. The sea breeze was just so refreshing. It’s cold but I didn’t mind. Sometimes, I wish I had esp powers. So that I can read what’s on Gray’s head. What’s going on in his mind? I don’t know. He will always be a mystery to me.
