Outstanding (Semi Eita x reader)

Chapter 10: Midnight

You hear your phone ringing again. Naomi began calling you after she noticed that you and Semi were no where to be found. You didn't feel like answering. You would call her back tomorrow. It was almost midnight and it was getting pretty cold by now.

You and Semi were walking on the empty streets, only lit by a couple of lampposts. The walk was quiet, but it wasn't awkward at all. Semi was walking next to you and you could sometimes feel his hand touching yours. You didn't know why, but it made you blush.

"Do you live nearby?", Semi asks, breaking the silence.

"No, not really. I took an Uber earlier. What about you?"

"I also don't live nearby. I took the bus with Ushijima, Goshiki and Tendou", he says.

"Hmm I see... Maybe we can look for a bus stop and go home together?", you suggest with a smile.

"Like I would let you go home by yourself. What do you take me for?", he grins as he sofly pokes your arm with his elbow.

"Such a gentleman", you laugh as you pat his head. Semi's ears turned a bit red at the gesture. He wasn't really fond of physical contact, but he always felt a bit flustered when you touched him. Earlier, when you held his hand for comfort, he felt it too.

The two of you arrived at a bus stop and sat down on the little bench while you guys waited for the bus to arrive. In the corner of your eyes, you noticed Semi staring at you.

A little smile crept on your face.

"Like what you're seeing?", you say as you turn your head around to face the boy.

He had a soft smile on his face, but he didn't stop staring at you. He just sat there as if he was trying to figure out what was going on in your brain.

"Semi, stop staring at me! It makes me uncomfortable", you giggle.

You see Semi moving his hand towards your face, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. The feeling of his hand softly stroking your cheek as he does so, makes your heart beat faster.

"You were looking really pretty today", he says as he now looks you in the eyes.
"Oikawa doesn't deserve to kiss you just like that".

That statement left you speechless. Why was he making you feel like this? Just those little things like accidentally touching you or saying nice things like that are giving you butterflies in your stomach.

You kept staring into his eyes, wondering why he acted like this all of a sudden. Maybe it was the alcohol that made him loosen up? This wasn't what you expected from Semi. He kept surprising you with stuff.

You weren't developing feelings, right? You didn't even know him that well...

And so, the only words to come out of your mouth were "thanks I guess?"

Nice one (y/n), you thought.

Semi laughed a little bit at your flustered state as he lets go of your face. "The bus is here", he says while pointing at the vehicle that had just arrived.

"Oh, right", you reply as you snap out of your trance. The bus was pretty crowded so there was no place to sit. You and Semi entered the bus and held onto the handles that were hanging at the ceiling. The bus started driving and you glanced up to Semi who was staring out of the window. Your eyes followed the arm that was holding onto the handle, stopping directly at his hand. You could clearly see the veins popping out a little bit.

That's hot.
Wait, what?

You shook your head to get rid of that thought as soon as possible.

Semi noticed you wildly shaking your head from left to right and you heard him sniff.
"You okay (y/n)?"

"Y-yes. Just a bit dizzy because of the alcohol, that's all", you lie.

You were blaming all the things you felt on the alcohol. You thought that was the only right explanation for all of this.

You didn't know this, but Semi did exactly the same thing. He also blamed the alcohol for the things he felt.

After a little while, the bus arrived at the bus stop near your house.
"This is my exit".

"I'll walk to your house with you", Semi offers as he gets ready to exit the vehicle.
"T-that's not necessary! I literally live across the street so you don't have to", you say to him.

"Then text me when you get home safely, will you?"

"I don't have your number."

"Give me your phone then", Semi says as he holds out his hand so you can hand him your phone.

You do as he asks and you unlock the phone for him. He opens your contacts and adds his own number. After he's done, he hands you the phone back with a smile on his face. You stare at the name he gave himself. 'SemiSemi'. You knew he hated it when people called him that.

"Get out of the bus before it starts driving again dummy", he says while he pushes you towards the door.

"Yeah yeah, I'm going!", you say as you exit the bus. You turn around so you can wave at Semi as a goodbye. The door closes and Semi gives you a fast wave back as he holds his phone up in the air, pointing at the screen.

You roll your eyes and unlock your phone for the second time. You see a text that Semi had just sent you.

SemiSemi:
Text me when you get home or I'll smash a volleyball against your pretty face at practice next time

You giggle at the text as you walk towards your house. You open the front door, sneaking to your room as silent as you can. After all, your parents thought you were sleeping at Aya's. Maya wasn't home, so you assumed that she really would stay at Aya's.

You close the door of your room behind you, plopping down on your bed. You were exhausted to be honest.

Your phone lightens up as you receive another message from Semi.

R u home?????

yes, I'm home so don't worry 🙃

Who said I was worried? 🤨

Oh, well Oikawa tried to rape me just now 😩

That's not funny (y/n) 🖕🏼

After you send that message, Semi didn't reply anymore. You actually really liked this side of him. You liked the not-so quiet and modest side way better. There was one thing that you were sure about after all the things that had happened today:

You wanted to know more about Semi.
