Outstanding (Semi Eita x reader)

Chapter 4: after school

You were leaning against a wall outside of the gym, waiting for Naomi to finish up cleaning with the team. They had practiced for a full two and a half hourst, so you figured that they must be very exhausted.

While scrolling on your phone, you see a tall, broad figure standing still in front of you.

Ushijima.

A bit startled, you look up to him.
Fuck he looks scary, you think.

"H-hey... is something wrong?", you ask the guy with a shivering voice.

He keeps staring at you, not saying a word.
Then, suddenly, he lifts up his right arm and points at you, his index finger almost touching your nose.

The fuck?

"You're a distraction", he then says with a stern and very low voice.

You furrow your eyebrows, not really getting what he's saying.

"I'm a distraction? I literally didn't make any sound while you guys were playing, so I don't know what you're talking about", you say as you push Ushijima's arm down so you can have a clear view of him.

"I mean your looks. Everyone keeps staring at you".

"That's probably because I'm new. My looks ain't that special", you reply while crossing your arms.

Your appearance indeed wasn't anything very special. You had a normal height, long (h/c) hair and you only wore a little bit of make-up.

After you made that comment, you see a little smile appearing on Ushijima's face. A really, really small smile.

"Might think about that again. As a captain, I know my team. I could tell they were trying harder today because someone was watching them", he says.

Oh... is that so?

A grin appears on your face.
"Looks like I have to visit more often then", you say with a teasing tone.

"(Y/n)! There you are!", Naomi yells as she runs towards you and Ushijima.
"Did the captain bother you?"

"Why do you always consider us talking to girls as a bother?", Ushijima growls.
"Have you seen yourself? You're intimidating you know?", she laughs.

"We were just chatting for a bit, but I really have to go home now Naomi. Maya is waiting for me to help her with some stuff. It took you very long in there though...", you notice.

"Well we had to discuss something too", she says while glaring at Ushijima.
He gives her a 'shut it'-looking face.

You wonder what that discussion was about, but that thought quickly fades away.

"Well, I'll be going then. See you tomorrow Naomi!"
You turn around to face Ushijima for the last time today, lifting your hand up to place it against your forehead.
"Bye captain", you salute while holding back your laughter. Before Ushijima can respond, you were already gone.

Later that day, you had to drop by the supermarket to buy some groceries for your mom. Luckily, the supermarket was nearby so you didn't mind getting them.

You enter the store as you grab a little basket and look for the right vegetables your mom asked you to bring.

Let's see.
Paprika, carrots, green beans and...

Without watching your surroundings, you bump into one of the staff members, dropping the green beans you were holding.

"Oh my god! I'm so so-"
Then you recognize the staff member.
