Regret?

Live your life

So tomorrow

You won't

Regret today

- Catherine Pulsifer

( You Pov )

They say to live your life without regret, however the moment we were able to break away I think we both regretted it. I could see into his head in real time but the fact that I knew what he had felt for her. The moment I heard Alice pull up I was grateful. My cheeks tingle like I was supposed to be blushing with shame or embarrassment. Alice, bless her heart, didn't talk about it. She helped me dress knowing I would accidentally rip the thin material with my newborn strength. Thankfully she grabbed pants and not a dress. Then again Alice being Alice she grabbed clothes hinting at designer origins. "What no dress," I couldn't help but chuckle. "Makes swimming a bit harder to keep the skirt of the dress intact," she winked. "Mind helping me with my hair," I pointed to the rat's nest I knew I had. "Thought you'd never ask," she let out a breath flashing a dazzling smile at me. I couldn't help but smile back. She moved plucking twigs and leaves from my hair. Though I knew what she was doing, my new instincts were telling me to keep her in the line of sight. As if she knew this she kept her body in the reflection of the car. " I do have to warn you," Alice finished the french braid," Jasper will be meeting up with us soon." "I saw ," my gaze met hers in the reflection. Clear curiosity in her gaze. My eyes flicked to a new reflection. Edward dressed in new clothes. I tried to slam close the mind reading but it only seemed to tune it up. "How the hell do you turn it off," I groaned, my hands flying to my temples at the mere thought. A smile twitched on his lips as his mental voice spoke," welcome to my world." I couldn't help the dazzling smile that spread across my face. The raw craving for him picking up. Well until a new car pulled up behind Alice's stolen car. Calm washed through me at the same moment I heard his thoughts. My smile faded, that's right I was a newborn vampire. The whole reason I seem to have all these abilities. Not even Alice's warning could prepare me for the instinct to protect myself when I caught sight of her frightening lover. To have so many sets of teeth tearing into you and survive it. Everything about him screamed dangerous. The same vampiric instinct is the reason we have to swim the Atlantic to get back. To take part humans won't stumble on us. "Ready to stretch those newborn limbs, " Edward tried to lighten the mood. To take the attention off his brother. My shield must have slipped again during my aversion. Was it a sign my abilities were temporary? Would Aro honor his word when he found out? It ate at me as we started our journey back to forks. I was aware of Jaspers worry at my shifting emotions. The knowledge Edward could read through him how I was feeling. Edward abruptly stopped in his tracks. A short while later I heard footsteps gaining on us."How long have you been following us Garrett," Edward asked a couple of seconds later. Garrett smiled a carefree almost dangerous smile.

I found myself in a wonderful challenge. What made it so thrilling was Edward. Each time I got near (Y/n) he bristled. I've been with many in my day and I heard newborns were wild in the sack. And here was my luck, a freshly made newborn. Separating her from the herd would be a challenge in itself. Until we ran into another vampire. The moment the other one realized we were too close for comfort something repelled us. To be near him had my stomach heaving. "Bree," Edward gasped out like he felt it too. As soon as that name left his lips the feeling was gone. He held up a hand to the vampire before speaking to me as if regretting his next words," Garrett would you take (Y/n) hunting in the wildlife?" "Why not in the city," I roll my eyes ," it's so much better to sate her thirst with human blood." "What, you think you can't hunt the biggest creature ," Jasper asked, smirking. Oooh game on. I led the way but soon (Y/n) overtook me. Passing me as we left the three behind. I let out a laugh and push my limbs to move faster. However the moment I managed to wrap my arms around her that bloody repeat seemed to happen. The heaving of my stomach had me letting go. I look around got the new comer but it was just the two of us. The repellent got so bad I fell to one knee. "I'm not some prize," (Y/n) hissed." Within that second I knew it was her. This vampiress was so new she hadn't gone through her snap. Until this moment that is. The revulsion seemed to get overbearing. I crumple to the floor gasping in a bit of horror. All my thoughts of winning her flew from my mind. I could withstand a lot but the revolting feeling was too much. Clawing at the dirt to get away I try to get away from her. Almost as if the tension snapped she took a step back and took in a breath. She bolted leaving me a confused on the floor. Never have I been around someone with the exact same abilities.
