Kakashi walked into his kitchen and unlocked a drawer next to the sink. "Minato-sensei gave me this before he died," He turned around with a small picture. "It's the only picture I have of you and your parents." He gave Akiko the picture.

Her eyes widened at the photo. Her father looked beyond happy as he stood beside her mother. There was a baby with a small tuff of bright red hair, much like the woman holding it. "Momma..." tears rolled down her cheeks. "Thank you, Kakashi. I barely remember what they looked like. I know momma had hair like mine, and dad was blonde like Naru. But I remember the day they died so clearly. That's not a day a kid should remember about her parents." She gave him the picture back before rubbing the tears off her face.

He put it back where it belonged before locking the drawer. "We should get you some knew clothes before we go see the Hokage."

"Why?" He gestured at her chest, making her look down. Most, if not all of, her torso was covered in blood. "Oh. Yeah, that might be a good idea."

A puff of smoke suddenly erupted in front of Akiko. A light gray dog with a white underside and a black crest on his head appeared in the middle of the smoke. "This is Shiba," the dog looked up at his summoner before turning to girl. Kakashi was over by his front door, getting his sandals on.

"Who's the girl?"

"This is Akiko, Minato's daughter." A sound of recognition left the dog. "She'll be staying here for a little while. But I have a mission and I need you to stay with her."

"Why not Pakkun?" Shiba tilted his head.

"Figured you'd be better." The jonin got a skeptical look from his summon. "What!?"

"Nothing."

"Can we stop somewhere to get him some bones?" Both heads turned to Akiko. Kakashi looked surprised.

"Sure." He nodded before walking off somewhere in his home. "You sandals are in the cabinet by the door."

"Why are you staying with Kakashi and not someone else?"

"My brother tried to kill one of his students. And he knew my parents."

"Which student? The brooding one, or the super excited one? Or the girl?"

It took her a moment to understand what he meant. Brooding would be Sasuke, while excited would be Naruto.

"Both, actually." She walked over to the cabinet to get her sandals. "How do you know them?"

"We were summoned a while ago to help Kakashi fight Zabuza Momochi."

"Wait... the Demon of the Hidden Mist? Why were you guys in the Land of Water?"

"No idea. All I know is that we were summoned to help fight him."

"What happened to Zabuza?"

"Think he died." It almost sounded like a question, like he wasn't one hundred percent sure of himself. "Ask Kakashi if you wanna know the details." The jonin appeared as if his name had magically summoned him.

"And what are you two talking about?"

"Nothing much." Akiko shrugged and stood up. She looked down at Shiba before walking to the door.

Kakashi shook his head a little bit. "Let's go then." As the trio left the house, the redhead took off with the gray canine. "Hey!" The silver-haired man opened his mouth to call her back, but ultimately decided against it. She was born and raised in the village, she would be fine. He just hoped the cat would leave her alone.
