"I should've stopped you from leaving," Kabuto squeezed Akiko's shoulder before releasing it. He knew she didn't want him to fight the man across from him. "I finally found someone, and you want to take her from me?! No." He paused, collecting himself. "Look, I didn't come here to fight. Or to destroy the village. I just want her back, that's all. Nothing more."
"Neither of you are leaving the village." Wood shot out of the ground in front of him as Tenzo interlaced his fingers together. Kabuto picked up Akiko and tried to move out of the way. But he wasn't fast enough. A sharp piece of wood stabbed into his left shoulder, making him slam into a wall. His grip tightened on the redhead as the brown-haired man walked to them. "Don't make me hurt you more than I have to. Let her go and just surrender. Things will be easier for you."
"You'll have to kill me before I do that." He ignored the blood trailing down his arm and focused on the man in front of him.
Tenzo stopped when he noticed the worry Akiko emitted towards the boy. She was worried about him, which meant that she cared about him. It made him feel bad about tearing them apart. "Don't do it, Tenzo." He froze at Kakashi's voice, as did the couple.
"Kakashi?" Kabuto tried to stand up, but the wood still embedded in his shoulder only caused him more pain.
"Let him go. I'll take care of him."
"But-"
"Tenzo." The younger man nodded, releasing the medic. He took a step back, letting the jonin have some space. Kakashi knelt in front of Kabuto and looked at his wound. "That's pretty bad, huh? But I'm sure you've had worse." He stood up and held out his hand. "Come on."
Akiko removed herself from her boyfriend and watched as his took Kakashi's hand. She looked at Tenzo and nodded, silently apologizing and thanking him. He returned the gesture before disappearing.

A grunt left Kabuto as his legs gave out, his uninjured arm just barely catching him. He removed his glasses before covering his eyes. This day had gone to shit really quick. He rested against the couch at his back before putting his glasses back on.
"I would ask if you're okay, but I don't care." He tried to glare at Kakashi, but gave up when he realized that he did not care. He watched the man disappeared into some hidden part of his home.
"Why aren't you healing?" Akiko questioned, placing a hand over his injury.
"I used too much chakra." Her heart ached as she was reminded of this morning. Her hand ignited with Karma's chakra as she began to heal him. "You don't need to do this, Aki."
"Maybe not, but I want to. You're hurt." She sunk the claws into the skin surrounding the injury, leaving burns she hoped would be permanent. Kabuto inhaled sharply at the burn, knowing he had deserved that.
"Ow." He felt her gaze. And heard her unspoken 'You deserve this'. He looked over his opposite shoulder as Kakashi walked back into the room.
(Sorry that this is so short, but the next chapter is gonna be kinda dramatic)
