Izuku sighed as he entered his dorm room, thoughts of what he said earlier flowing through his mind. As much as he wanted Ochaco to go with him on this journey, as much as he wanted her support and care, he had to do this alone. This wasn't just an ordinary Hero Agency mission. This determined the fate of society itself. That was a responsibility Izuku would bear himself...
"Welcome home Izuku," A gentle sweet voice called out. Izuku looked up to see his mother's eyes staring back at him from his own bedside. Inko Midoriya, folding clothes on Izuku's bed, looked at her son with a precious smile. Izuku smiled tiredly in return. It was a bit hard to get used to his mother now living in the same dorms as him. There were two beds in the dorm now, his usual All Might covered one and another set aside for Inko's new bed. Eri's bed had been completely removed. While a bit crowded in the dorms now with the students and their parents, it did feel more at home having the parents here as well.
"Did you say hi to Ochaco for me?" Inko asked as she continued to fold.
"I did. And she actually says hi back this time." Izuku said, walking over to his desk to use the computer. Inko's eyes grew wide with happiness. She gently laid the final article of folded clothing down before rushing over to her son before he could sit down.
"She woke up? That's wonderful news, Izuku!" She said happily, wrapping her arms around him. Izuku chuckled before returning the embrace. "It's good to truly have you both back."
"Yeah, yeah it is..." Izuku said softly, trying to find the proper words for his next sentence. "Um... Mom..."
Inko pulled away from her son, her hands on his shoulders now. Her eyes grew serious and worried as she stared into Izuku's similarly green eyes. She sighed after gazing into them for a moment.
"You have to leave soon, don't you?" She asked quietly. Izuku smiled sadly.
"Yeah... Myself along with the rest of the class potentially. But... I may be doing something a bit different from everyone else." Izuku said as he placed his hand on his mothers. Inko's eyes squinted as Izuku said that.
"Izuku, it's bad enough these Pro heroes are bringing students into what should be Pro Hero missions only. Especially first years," Inko said with a stern voice. "But... The way you've been acting lately ever since you returned, I've been worried. It's been like this ever since you returned from getting kidnapped, which I'm still not happy with the school about by the way."
Inko put a hand to her son's cheek. Izuku tried to look down, however Inko used her other hand to guide his chin and his gaze back up towards her."There's something different about you... Ever since All Might entered your life. You're... different. Different than all the other students. Different than who you used to be. It's like... It's like being a hero isn't your only goal anymore."
Izuku looked sadly into his mother's eyes as images from the One for All realm flashed inside his head. Izuku closed his eyes and sighed as he leaned in to hug his mother yet again. Tears started to form in his mothers eyes as she gripped onto Izuku's clothing.
"I'm sorry Mom. I just can't tell you yet..." Izuku said gently as he held his mother. "You're wrong. My goal is to become a hero. Nothing more. It's just... Being a hero has a bit more meaning and responsibility than I had prepared for. And it's a bit different for me than anyone else. I promise you this though... If this next mission doesn't solve everything, I will tell you. Everything. I promise."
Izuku felt his mother take a deep breath in before she pulled away yet again to stare into her son's eyes. She nodded sadly, accepting Izuku's choice. While she didn't like it, she knew she couldn't stop him even if she tried.
