A/N= This short story was one of the stories I had entered for a short story competition but sadly got nowhere with it.

Flyers, social media posts, everyday gossip all of it was about him. Holding onto the last conversation with him, sharing laughs and tears of joy; joy that had been practiced over and over again until perfect.

Rumors had spread like wildfire all telling a never-ending story of their own, none bothered to tell the actual reason behind this death. Memories of him surrounded me, everything reminded me of him from the way he smelt to the way he smiled, all now gone only nothing but a painful reminder of him.

Those unforgettable ocean eyes, the cheeky smile that would always grace his beautiful features, the messy hair that only he seemed to pull off all now faded just like the rest of him. Tears slid their way down my cheeks as people who claimed to know him came and gave their regards and sorry's, sorry's that couldn't change a thing.

Saying a final goodbye I walked away, never looking back, from his burial site consumed in my own thoughts. Not long ago had it seemed that everything was fine, not long ago was he talking, breathing, alive.

But now everything seemed so far away; too far away from comfort . . . How did it come down to this?
