The car shifted into park as he switched the engine off and silence filled the space between them. She watched as he fiddled with his car keys before turning to look in her direction. She gave him a small encouraging smile as he cleared his throat. "I- uh- we're here," He announced while unbuckling his seat belt. "I can see," She said with an amused tone as he stuttered before releasing a breath.
"I'm sorry, it's just ..."
"My dad got to you?" She asked clearly in a tone that seemed apologetic as he opened the car's door and got off, she followed in his lead as he nodded at her question. "He's just uh intimating and over-protective, you can't blame him though," He answered her question as she let out a laugh. "Are you saying that in his defense or because you are supposed to be tough?" She asked him as he playfully rolled his eyes at her.
"Take it whichever way you want Helia," There it was his nickname for her, it was ironic seeing as her favorite flowers were sunflowers and his nickname 'Helia' came from the scientific term for sunflowers which seemed to fit her perfectly. "So how did you plan this date of ours?" She asked as he sent her one of his swoon worthy smiles. "I remember your love for pad thai and how you kept going on and on about this restaurants pad thai is unbeatable, so first stop is lunch then we'll go to the arcade and library before a quick afternoon snack," And he swore, in that moment he swore, her eyes lit up as she smiled at him.
"You're amazing, you know that?" She said as he smirked. "Of course I am darling, what's not to love" He said smugly as she playfully smacked him on the arm. "Don't get your hopes high darling," She mocked before racing him to the restaurant. 'Oh, you have no idea all the things I'd do for you Helia,' He thought to himself before following the girl he was in love with.
