Lyra's POV
"Someone's being attacked by a platypus bear!" Aang yelled.
I was quick to leap to the man's aid and sent a water strengthened punch at the bears stomach.
I growled and I dodged the incoming claw.
"Well, hello there" he greeted us as if he wasn't in a dangerous situation, "nice day, isn't it?" He said casually.
"You can't be serious, right?!" I yelled over the bears growl, and jumped to avoid the tail.
"What ever is the matter, young lady?" He asked me casually, ducking to avoid the bears tail inches from his head.
"Dude, we're being attacked by a platypus bear and you have the nerve to ask, what's wrong?!" I grunted pushing the man aside, and blocked with a blade of concentrated mist.
"Make noise, he'll run off!" Aang advised.
"No, play dead. He'll lose interest!" Sokka followed.
"How about you help out, rather than just standing there!" I said and gritted my teeth at the close call, and my hair fell out of the braid, I'd set it in earlier today.
"Whoa, close one, ha ha ha!" The man laughed.
"Run downhill, and climb a tree!" Katara yelled.
"No, punch him in the bill-" Sokka began,
"Then run in zig-zags!" Aang followed.
I hissed as I was knocked back onto my butt and I prepared for the worst, only it never came.
"No, need. It's going to be fine!" The man reassured us and ducked avoiding the deadly claws which just cut through half a tree like butter.
The platypus bear noticed me and I couldn't move. The terrifying image of the bear standing over me kept me frozen.
Aang jumped in front of me and put his palm out,
"Whoa there!" He yelled sternly.
The bear didn't seem suprised.
Not until Appa roared and scared the thing off.
It was quick to run but dispensed an egg before it's escape.
Sokka was quick to grab the egg and Katara helped me up and I laughed,
"I almost died!" I laughed as the adrenaline faded from my bones.
"I almost died!" I repeated in disbelief.
"But you didn't, Lyra." Katara reassured me in a gentle voice.
"But I didn't" I repeated, and played the reassuring words in my head.
"I didn't" I breathed in relief.
"Mmm, lunch!" Sokka cheered,
"Lucky for you we came along" Sokka said sounding almost stern.
"Yeah, 'we'" I quoted,
"The only one who did anything was Aang. You guys just yelled advice" I said as I rolled my eyes.
"Thanks, but everything was already under control." The man explained calmly.
"Didn't look very controlled to me. Did you see what it did to that tree?" I pointed behind him to the half broken tree.
The man only nodded after glancing at it briefly,
