Lyra's POV

It'd been four weeks since the fight, and Pakku had taken a change of heart. He'd accepted Katara and I back to learn under him along with Aang.

It turns out during the fight I had broken a rib which almost lodged in my lung, but the healer had repaired it. After a week I was taken off light duty and resumed training.

My skills in bending exceeded Master Pakku's expectation, and upon learning the physical forms of waterbending it became natural, my movements which had once resulted in delayed bending became sharp and fast strikes like a viper-rat.

Despite my bending becoming more powerful I hadn't heard from La, which concerned me even more.

The last time I had tried to contact him had been yesterday, but I only heard a word from him before the massive points of energy became too much and I passed out.

Aang had theorized that this was due to the intensity of the spirits on the north, and how my body couldn't handle the dangerous amounts of energy emanating from this area.

It made sense, but it scared me.

I knew there was a way to safely channel this energy, but I had yet to figure out how.

Despite this challenge I continued to focus on my bending, Katara was the only one who had succeeded in beating me, we were on equal ground without my powerups.

It was one of these training days that we were on now.

Katara had beaten the others boys with what may as well be a flick of the wrist.

"Would anyone care for a rematch with Katara?" Master Pakku asked us as I raised my hand,

"Ohhh, ohh, pick me!" I grinned excitedly.

Pakku grinned at my childish antics and rolled his eyes,

"Besides you, Lyra" he sighed with a smile.

"Katara, you've advanced more than any student I've ever had, your sister, Lyra being your only equal." Pakku congratulated, "Raw talent alone is not enough" he added at the end, looking to Aang.

"Pupil Aang!" Master Pakku stated, addressing Aang,

"Yes, Master Pakku?"

"Care to step into the sparring circle? I figure, since you've found the time to play with house pets, you must've already mastered waterbending" Master Pakku stated.

"I wouldn't say mastered, but check this out!" Aang smiled as I facepalmed, he's gonna do the stupid snowman trick!

I was correct in my assumption as Momo tackled him.

The day for training passed quickly as I finished eating my snack for lunch, Aang was laughing as he rolled around in circles around Momo.

A snow started to fall from the sky as I laughed from Aang's antics, and extended my tongue to catch a snowflake.

I coughed as the bitter sent of ash and soot coated my tongue and my chest froze with panic.

Fire nation.

"MASTER PAKKU!" I yelled in alarm, and raced to chase my teacher.

"Lyra!" Master Pakku responded as I approached him,

"What is this snow?" he questioned in fear.

"It means the fire nation is coming" I stated, calmer than I felt.

"We need to go tell the chief!" Master Pakku stated urgently as he dragged me along.

Katara was behind us with Aang, and Asura was was right behind them.
