Lyra's POV

We were offered a large room in the mayor's house. Where we stayed the night.

The cat- owl kitten had snuck aboard as it turned out.

I found out when I went to feed momo the same night.

The small kitten leapt from the bags on the saddle.

I was suprised. I couldn't understand how she had slipped past my radar.

---

Her name was Asura.

The name meant powerful, and mighty.

It certainly fit, as she had scared Appa, and Momo after screeching her greeting. Her feathers weren't even completely in. The soft, whispy feather- fur mix often fell in light flurrylike pattern. Littering anywhere she went with the light whispy feathers.

However currently, she was curled within my lap at the moment.

In the moment I sat in front of a wooden table. The left of Katara who seemed timid.

Beneath me was a weird squishy cloth mat.

It was shaped like a square decorative pillow Gran Gran had at home but it was far too soft.

Momo stayed closer to Aang as Asura had yet to leave my side.

Though her ears had begun to pull away from her head. Just barely but it meant that her eyes would likely open within the coming week.

She had yet to stop rubbing her face affectionately against my wrist (whichever one was closest).

She often purred or hummed affectionately. It was quite odd to hear. A kinda mix between humming and purring.

After our arrival within the town Aang had been fawned over by a large group of young girls.

I had a feeling it'd be quick.

I groaned and pulled the padded cushion from beneath me.

The ground felt better, much more natural.

I reached forward as a fruit bowl was placed in front of me. I nodded my thanks as the footsteps retreated.

The chef returned with several trays of baked goods.

The smell of spices, creams, custards, and fruits filled my senses.

I swallowed the orange slice remaining within the bowl as Asura seemed much more interested in the fruit. Having begun to squirm in my arms.

I placed the wooden bowl besides me, and felt her leave my lap. Devouring the fruit, seeds and all.

"Alright! Dessert for breakfast!" Aang cheered.

"These people sure know how to treat an Avatar!" He praised.

I was wary, wondering if this could be some clever trap.

Aang didn't hesitate at all.

Katara and I were careful, examining the food.

"Mm! Katara you gotta try these!" Aang urged Katara.

Katara finally caved.

I followed suit with a squishy, steamed, dao bun.

The pork filling was warm and filled with earth kingdom spices, that enhanced the shredded meat with delicious umami flavor.

I followed with a light pastry which was filled a red bean paste.

It was sweet and earthy, but light and flakey from the pastry.

Momo had stolen several pastries and ate them beneath the table.
