Stevie rode the bus back into town and got off at the fortune teller's place. She was panicking and didn't know where to go. If that undead vampire thing had gotten Jodi and the others, she was guessing the student housing wouldn't be a safe place to go anymore. The halls did seem eerily quiet this morning.

She walked past the sign that read
"Muhammed Avdol - Fortune Teller"
and made her way up the stairs. She found a broken window with pieces of the shattered glass covering the steps up. The door at the top looked like it had been forced open.

"Hello?" she called out. Surely if someone were in there, she would hear rustling. She made her way in and saw the place was a wreck. Cards and various books were strewn over the floor. It looked like something awful had happened here.

"Mr. Avdol? Are you here?" she said, with no response. She felt uneasy and decided it was time to leave. She made her way back to her apartment, keeping her guard up as she entered the building and unlocked her door. Nobody was there. Stevie let out a sigh of relief.

The best course of action, she figured, was to pack and head to the airport. She felt like her life depended on it. So she got her shit together in one backpack and dug out the voucher for her return flight.

She knocked on Jodi's door on the way out, but didn't hear anything. She got on her hands and knees to look under the door, but didn't see anything except the goofy note she had slid under there Saturday morning. So Jodi had never even come back Friday night, she figured. Stevie shivered and stood up to leave, remembering how pointedly short Joni's fortune had been.
