It was just before midnight and the crew sat on their beds, biding their time by playing cards while waiting for the ferry to reach it's destination. Finally, a voice announced over the intercom in several languages that the ferry had arrived in Myanmar, and it was time to depart the ship. The massive storm had made everyone aboard nervous, and the landing was a sigh of relief for most people. The Joestar gang, however, were apprehensive to leave. They had hoped it would stop raining by the time they reached shore, but it was still coming down. Which meant they could no longer hide from the mysterious enemy stand user who turned water into toxic sludge.
"Stay alert," Joseph cautioned sternly as they exited the ferry. "This is the moment that enemy stand user has been waiting for."
Tension spread through the group as they exposed themselves to the open air. Rain soaked into their clothes, making them the perfect target for a sludge attack. And, as predicted, the enemy attacked immediately. The water on everyone turned to burning toxic sludge. Polnareff screamed, drawing attention from the large crowd of people who had just exited the ship. Kakyoin groaned and fell to his knees, trying to wipe the sludge off of his face.
"I can't tell who it is!" Jotaro spat through gritted teeth. "There's too many people here!"
Stevie thought maybe.. just maybe her stand would be useful here. The area turned to chaos as passerbys scrambled to get away from the group covered in some kind of chemical attack. Stevie engaged her stand and found a creepy-looking man in the chaos who was glowing bright red with indecent thoughts. A murderous grin played upon his lips as he stared at the gang squirming in pain. Then he punched himself in the face, hard.
"Found him," Stevie growled. She had control over him. His hands crept up to his neck and started to squeeze. The man fell to the ground, and the toxic sludge that had covered everyone turned back to water. Avdol, Kakyoin, Polnareff, Jotaro, and Joseph regained composure in time to see the man choking himself on the ground. Ghostly strings started to appear, coming out of his hands floating upwards towards the sky.
"STEVIE THAT'S ENOUGH!" Joseph commanded and shook her shoulder. "We don't want to kill him."
The man let go of his neck, and the group ran to him. He laid still on the wet ground. "I can't move! Let me go! Why can't I move?" he pleaded. His face twitched. The men watched as more ghostly strings began floating from his knees before one more appeared from his head, curling up into the sky like a dancing snake. Jotaro looked at Stevie. She was glaring intently at the enemy stand user with malice in her eyes. A giant ghostly golden hand apparition appeared in the air, floating palm-down over the man. The strings curled upwards and wrapped themselves around the giant fingers.
"Holy fuck, that's our little Stevie's stand?" Polnareff gasped.
The enemy stand user started screaming with pain. The men took their eyes off of the giant hand to look at him. He was laying in a puddle of his own stand's toxic sludge. The giant gold hand twinkled it's fingers as the man rolled around in it. He was a puppet on a string.
"Oweee let me go! Let me go let me go! I'll be good ahhhhh just stoooop!!" he begged.
Avdol grabbed Stevie and shook her back to reality. The sludge disappeared, and the man lay panting on the ground. "I didn't know how bad it hurt," he whined. "I have two young boys at home, please don't kill me!"
Avdol led Stevie away as Joseph took over questioning the man about Dio.
"Stevie, have you ever seen that puppeteer hand before?" Avdol questioned.
"No... I don't know what happened. That guy was hurting all of you. I mean, all of us... I just got so lost in my focus to stop him," Stevie paused. "I'm sorry. I think I took it too far."
"No need for apologies," Avdol said. "It seems your stand has evolved it's form. That can only mean your stand's power is increasing as well."
"STEEEVIIEEEE!" Polnareff ran up to them. "That's our girl! The Maneater!" he said, patting her shoulder. The rest of the crew walked up behind, laughing.
"The Maneater," Kakyoin smiled and placed his own hand on Stevie's shoulder.
"Maneater," Joseph said proudly, also putting his hand on her shoulder.
"Yare yare, why are you all saying Maneater?" Jotaro said flatly, causing the group to laugh more. He also grabbed her shoulder.
"I was actually thinking we could call her stand Master of Puppets," Avdol interjected.
"MANEATER!" the other guys shouted in unison.
"Alright," Avdol relented. "Your stand's name is Maneater Gold." He added his hand to Stevie's shoulder as well.
Stevie looked back at the five guys standing around her - Jotaro, Joseph, Avdol, Kakyoin, and Polnareff - who had all reached out to put a hand on her shoulders, and finally, looking back into their eyes, she felt like she actually belonged.
"Maneater," she grinned.
