Train in Vain pt 2

Stevie woke up in Jotaro's bed as the little spoon and noticed that the sun had gone down. She felt groggy from the wine earlier, but she sighed a dreamy sigh from within Jotaro's arms. Life had actually seemed semi-normal the past two days on the train. Eating regular meals with the same people all the time was starting to make them feel like family. And bunking with a super hot guy who had taken a liking to her didn't hurt. She slowly grabbed Jotaro's hand and gently placed a kiss on it.

She then noticed that the train had stopped moving. The atmosphere was eerily quiet and the room was completely dark.

"Jotaro," she said, "Jotaro wake up." He groaned in response.

Stevie bolted up and shook his arm. "Jotaro, the train's stopped moving!"

His eyes shot open and his body jumped in shock. "Shit," he said and knocked hard on the wall. "Oi, JiJi, Kakyoin, wake up!" He then sprang to pound on the other wall, "Avdol! Polnareff! Wake up!"

Jotaro stuffed his feet into his shoes, grabbed a flashlight, and opened the door. The rest of the team rushed into the hallway to meet him. The hall was dark except for a couple of emergency lights.

"The train shouldn't have stopped until at least early morning," Joseph said. "Let's stick together, could be stand users."

The gang heard a scream from a few cars ahead of them. They all gave an agreeing nod to one another and began running towards the action. A sleeper car was being torn apart with frightened passengers running away down the train's aisle past Stevie and the five men.

"We're lookin for a lady named Stevie," a voice snarled from inside one of the busted-open rooms. "She's young, pretty, has special abilities? We have reason to believe she's hiding on the train."

Joseph, Avdol, Kakyoin, Polnareff, and Jotaro all turned to look back at Stevie, who was standing with her mouth agape. She mouthed the word "vampires," to which Joseph firmly nodded and stepped closer to the room.
Jotaro, looking pissed, moved back to be closer to Stevie. "I'll kill them if they try to touch you," he leaned down and whispered in her ear.

"She's out here!" a scraggly voice shouted from behind her.

Stevie turned to see Grace, the other girl from her Cairo cohort who had been turned into a vampire. "Lord DIO will be very pleased," she said.

Dr. Scott ran out of the room and was immediately grabbed and lifted in the air by Joseph's Hermit Purple. Jotaro pushed Stevie behind him as he stepped towards vampire Grace.

"Why didn't you say she was with the Joestar group?" Dr. Scott weezed to Grace as Hermit Purple pulsed around his throat. Polnareff, Avdol, and Kakyoin all called out their stands.

"STAR PLATINUM!" Jotaro yelled, sending the beefy purple spirit barreling towards the woman vampire and cleanly punching her head right off. Stevie gasped in horror as she watched Grace's head roll.

"Tell us DIO's plan!" Joseph demanded.

"We were sent for Stevie," Dr. Scott writhed. "He didn't tell us specifically why! But she has something he wants! We follow Lord DIO blindly!"

"What is DIO's stand?" Joseph continued his interrogation.

"I've never seen it!" the vampire answered honestly. "We didn't even know you were with Stevie! Lord DIO has sent much more powerful people after the Joestars..." he croaked, "stand users like yourselves."

As all eyes were on Joseph and Dr. Scott, Grace's body, with the head reattached, grabbed Stevie from behind, making Stevie shriek. Jotaro, Polnareff, Avdol, and Kakyoin all turned and made a step towards them.

"Stay back! Let him go or else!" Grace shouted. Stevie tried to shift out of her grasp to no avail.

Joseph looked into Stevie's eyes. "Remember the wine trick?" he said. Stevie nodded and, remembering how Joni had crumbled, infused Grace with hamon. Grace screamed and let go, quickly turning to dust. Jotaro and Kakyoin quickly ran to comfort Stevie, with Jotaro side-eyeing Kakyoin until he backed off.

"I have no problem disposing of evil vampires like you," Joseph said, his attention now turned back to Dr. Scott. "You sure you don't know anything about the stand users sent to kill us?"

"Erm... a guy in a cowboy hat is working together with a guy who had two right hands," Dr. Scott pleaded. "That's all I know!"

"Any other vampires here?" Joseph asked.

"No, it was just us!"

"And what do vampires like yourself eat?" Joseph continued with a wry tone.

Dr. Scott scoffed, "Are you that ignorant? Everyone knows vampires kill people to suck their blood."

"Ah," Joseph smirked. "Well, I'm sorry, but that means I can't let you live. HAMON OVERDRIVE!" Joseph punched the vampire with a strong glowing fist, turning him into a dust pile.

Joseph turned around to see Jotaro's arm protectively wrapped around Stevie. "Looks like Stevie could be the one protecting you, Jotaro!" Joseph laughed. "We all saw how she dusted that vampire! Amazing work, Stevie!" Joseph was trying hard to sound lighthearted, but all he could think about was Stevie nuzzling into Jotaro's embrace. He was the one who had helped Stevie by reminding her to use hamon. And he tried to look cool in front of her by defeating the other vampire with his super powerful hamon punch. But Jotaro was the one reaping the benefits of his efforts. I can't believe I'm jealous of my 17 year old grandson, Joseph thought. And how crazy am I having a crush on another college student...? I told myself, never again. He shook the thoughts out of his head.

"Why would DIO send vampires to capture a hamon user?" Avdol asked. "Stevie, could DIO know about your hamon at all?"

"I only learned what hamon is like two days ago. I doubt it?" she said, a bit unsure.

"One thing for certain is we can't stay on this train anymore. DIO probably knows we're here now," Joseph said. "Let's grab our things quickly. We're heading to the next town on foot."

They've been on a train for 7 chapters 😭 so I figured I'd switch it up. I'm not too interested in blow-by-blow fight scenes, so I hope the conflict with the vampires wasn't too garbage.
