Not-So-Secret Admirer -A Jily Story

Part 10- Lily

JAMES HAD TO RETURN THE LIST SO I WROTE IT DOWN WORD FOR WORD ON A PIECE OF PARCHEMENT. He took his weird little cloak with him. Wonder why he's always dragging it with him.

"Do you want to come with me?" he asked. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Why?" I asked "You're just returning a piece of paper. Why do I need to come along for that?"

"I just like your company," he said.

"All right, okay," I said. We snuck out of the room and made our way to Mr. Candwall's temporary office.

"Lily, get under here," James whispered, gesturing for me to hide under his little cloak.

"Really? Now is the best time for you to flirt?" I scoffed.

"It's an invisibility cloak," he said "Although you have to admit that there is some romantic element to you and me being under the same cloak." I rolled my eyes and got under the cloak with him. Mr. Candwall was in his office but he left the door open. James and I were able to sneak in and put the list back without any problem. We were about to leave when Mr. Candwall  started talking to someone in his fireplace. I was able to take a quick look at the person in the fire. He was talking to the Minister of Magic.

"I have to keep this short Candwall, I'm dealing with a... situation," he said "So without further delay, what's today's situation?"

"Today was slow," Mr. Candwall admitted "We were only able to move six muggles to the base."

"Be careful," the Minister of Magic warned "The Death Eaters have infiltrated two bases already." I've only heard the term 'Death Eater' once and that's what Voldemort's followers called themselves.

"Don't worry, the Ministry owned part of the RAF Alconbury is safe and under four cloaking charms and fourteen muggle repelling charms," Mr. Candwall assured him. He turned around and saw that the door was open. James and I slipped out before he could close the door. James took off the cloak and we made a run for the dorm. We ran into Professor McGonagall on our way back.

"Mr. Potter and Ms. Evans, I didn't expect to find either of you out of bed after hours," McGonagall said.

"Oh, uh... I was looking for James," I lied "He wandered out of bed and I was worried about him."

"Yeah, you know I sleepwalk Minnie," James said "Ask Filch, he's seen me roaming around the halls loads of times."

"It's professor McGonagall," she said, her lips pursing into a thin line "Now, both of you off to bed before I give you detention." James and I got out of there and went to our dorm. James went into his room and I went into mine.

I tossed and turned the whole night. The name of the military base kept on resonating in my mind. RAF Alconbury. I've heard of that part of town but I didn't know that there was a military base. Why was the Ministry keeping them there? And for how long?

I finally decided to get out of bed at six in the morning. I sat at my usual place with Dorcas and Marlene.

"Lily, you haven't touched your food," Marlene said with concern.

"Yeah, I've just got a lot on my mind," I said.

"Well, hurry up and eat, we have a big day ahead," Marlene said.

"What's today?" I asked, pushing my plate away. I wasn't hungry anymore after two bites of pancakes.

"Seriously? You forgot?" Dorcas said "We're going to Diagon alley instead of Hogsmeade to go shopping for dress robes."

"That's today?" I groaned. In the whole chaos of my parents disappearing, I completely forgot about the Ministry event for seventh year students.

"Come on! The Ministry ball is just a week away," Marlene said "Which still means that there is plenty of time to find a date Dor."

"Actually, I already have one," Dorcas said uncomfortably.

"Who?" Marlene and I asked at the same time.

"James asked me a couple of days ago," Dorcas said "I don't want to go with him I just agreed because you were already going with Remus and he asked me."

"It's fine," I said "I wasn't going to go with James so why shouldn't you? I mean it's not like we are together or anything nor are we going to the Ministry event together so it's fine you can go with whomever you want-" I cut myself of before I started rambling. Maybe it did bother me a little but I dug this hole. "You guys should go ahead, just pick something out for me."

"Lil, you okay?" Marlene asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I think I'm just going to snoop around and find out what happened to my parents," I said "Just tell McGonagall that I'm not feeling well, if she asks."

"Do you need us to stay?" Dorcas asked. I shook my head.

"I love you guys, but you still need dresses and I'll be fine on my own," I said. I went to my dorm after breakfast and waited till everyone was gone. I grabbed James' invisibility cloak and went to Mr. Candwall's temporary office. The door was already open. I entered and everything was gone. The desk was empty, the cabinets were empty. There was no sign of Mr. Candwall anywhere. I took off the cloak and started looking around the room.

"Why am I surprised to see you here, Ms. Evans?" I stiffened and turned around to face the speaker.

"Headmaster Dumbledore," I said "I was feeling a little under the weather so I stayed."

"I meant here, as in Mr. Candwall's office," Dumbledore said "Although, I suppose that I should have found you here, given recent events."

"Where is Mr. Candwall?" I asked.

"He had to leave," he said "Something about relocation and reintroduction to wizarding society."

"So you're saying that my parents and parents of other muggle-borns are being taken to a secret facility so that they can be reintroduced as wizards for their own preotection?" I said. Dumbledore smiled.

"I have not said anything of the sort," he said "You have inferred that all on your own."

"So is it true?" I asked.

"Well, it isn't false," he said. Leave it to Dumbledore to be obscure, but somehow I knew that I was right and that my parents were safe. Wherever they were.

A/N: This chapter was very boring but I have so many story lines so I had to end this one (Spoiler alert: Blackinnon is one of them). Next chapter will be better (I hope). Like always, vote comment and please check my grammar and spelling.
