Not-So-Secret Admirer -A Jily Story

Part 16- Lily

REMUS' WORDS KEPT CIRCLING IN MY MIND. We all have our secrets, Lily. Bit of advice, don't go digging into ours. I just thought it was something related to them pranking everyone or something embarrassing. I never would have never guessed that it was something deadly.

But so many things made sense now. I had answers to so many questions like why did they all disappear and where did they go? Every lie James told that I didn't quite believe was all for this. The nervousness on his face when I asked about his whereabouts on every full moon. It also explained why he was so angry when I accused him of harming Remus. It helped that James was not a very good liar. His eyes gave it away.

I also had a new realization about James. He always risked his life. I knew it since the day of the Ministry gala. He was already looking at me, wanted to protect me, wanted to keep me safe. He risked his life for his friends and his enemies. Any other time, James would have paid a hundred galleons to see Snape dead but instead he saved his life.

"I guess I have some explaining to do," James said "But first I need you to promise that you won't tell a soul. Alive or dead. I cannot emphasis on how important this is."

"I promise and you don't need to explain anything. I already know," I said "Actually, I figured it out just a couple minutes ago."

"You did?" he asked, puzzled.

"Yes," I replied "Remus is a werewolf and you three became Animagi to help him so that he doesn't hurt anyone or himself and you keep it a secret because you all are unregistered Animagi. Am I right?"

"Ye-yeah you- you are," James said, astonished "So... I guess I don't have to explain anything."

"I just have three questions. How did Sirius know we were in the Astronomy tower?" I asked. I remember seeing Sirius and Marlene by the great lake, taking a walk and snogging. We hadn't told anyone where we would be and it would take a very long time for Sirius to search the whole castle and find us.

"Um... We sort of created a magical map that shows us where everyone is," James answered "It's still a work in progress but we're nearly finished."

I'm not even going to ask what you use the map for," I mumbled.

"What? It's not for anything wrong," James defended "We just use to find where the professors are when we are doing something that is definitely against Hogwarts rules."

"Like I suspected," I said.

"Second question?" James asked.

"Why don't you just use wolfsbane?" I asked "It's a fairly difficult potion to brew but I think you can manage."

"What?" James asked, looking puzzled

"Wolfsbane?" I repeated "It won't prevent him from changing but it will make sure he is aware of who he is so he won't attack anyone or himself."

"I hadn't thought of that," James admitted "That's brilliant!"

"I know," I said, crossing my arms "I also know that there is nothing I can say to stop you from doing this every month and I'm not going to, but just please be careful! You're my boyfriend and I-"

"I know, Lil," he said, taking my hands in his.

"You should let me finish," I whispered.

"I know what you were going to say," James said.

"I don't think you do," I said softly.

"You were going to say, 'I can't lose you' right?" he suggested.

"No, not really, well, that to," I said "But I was going to say," I paused briefly and continued "I love you."

"Lil," he whispered "I l-"

"And I know you love me, so you don't have to say it," I said, cutting him off "I think I've known that since our third year."

"I love you so much more than you can imagine, Lily Evans," he said.  I stepped closer to him and kissed him, my nerves hyper-sensitive to every touch. I pulled James closer as his hands let go of mine and held on to my waist.

"What was your third question?" James asked, breathing a little heavily.

"What?" I asked.

"You said you had three questions," he explained "What is your third question?"

"Oh yeah... er... What's your form as an Animagus?" I asked.

"It's a stag," he replied "And before you ask, Peter's is a rat and Sirius' is a black dog."

"How exactly does that help?" I asked.

"Sirius and I guide Remus to the shrieking shack and Peter gets past the Whomping Willow's defenses and clears the path," James explained.

"You're Animagus is a stag," I mumbled "An Animagus is the same as the form of your Patronus so..." I trailed of in my own thoughts.

"What are you on about?" James asked.

"If I'm not wrong then that means that you're Patronus is also a stag," I said.

"Yes, what does that have to do with anything?" James asked.

"Expecto patronum," I said, focusing on the memory of the day I got my Hogwarts letter. On that day I finally got proof that I wasn't relatively abnormal and that there were others, hundreds of others like me.

James watched in astonishment and delight as a small doe of pure white light danced around him. I dropped the spell and watched the doe vanish into thin air. James and I had matching Patronus. I didn't know how it was possible but I knew what it meant.

"What does this mean?" James asked. Until this moment I didn't believe that it was true, but after knowing that James' Patronus was a stag, I believed in it.

"It's you," I said "It's you. You're my soulmate and it took me six long years to realize it but, it's you. It's always been you."

"What have I been telling you all these years?" James remarked with a smirk "I'm the only one for you."

A/N: This chapter was more or less a fluff piece cause I had to add a lot of stuff to make it not too short and it kind of came to a natural end and I didn't want it to ruin it so here we are. I have classes now so I'll try to upload chapters.
In other news I was writing three books at the same time (including this one) but it's not going to be possible for me anymore. I had already published two and was going to publish another one but decided against it. After a long conversation with myself I deleted the other book and kept this one so... yay!
