DORCAS AND MARLENE WERE NERVOUS AND EXCITED ABOUT THE WEDDING TODAY. I laughed when Marlene started hyperventilating when she realized that the ceremony was starting in two hours. Dorcas grimaced and smacked my shoulder. I winced in pain.
"Ow, what the bloody hell was that for?" I exclaimed.
"I told you not to move," she complained. She was decorating my hair with small baby pink pearls.
"That still doesn't mean you smack me," I complained rubbing my shoulder.
"Move one more time and I will hex you," Dorcas threatened.
"I can't believe it! I thought that a Jily wedding would never happen!" Marlene squealed "How are you feeling Lil?"
"Oddly calm," I admitted "No butterflies, no nervousness, nothing."
"Well, that's good, I think," Dorcas said "Mar, what's Jily?"
"It's James and Lily combined," Marlene explained "Sirius and I were arguing and he thinks it should be Lames but I think that Jily sounds better."
"I personally like Jily," I said. There was a knock on the door and Marlene ran to close it.
"That was rude," said the muffled voice of my soon to be husband "I just want to talk to Lily."
"No, you can't," Marlene said "You can't see the bride before the wedding."
"Oh, don't be stupid, let him in," I said "It's all muggle superstition and fiction anyway."
"Yeah? And just how fictional are you?" Dorcas countered. Dorcas dropped her hands and huffed. "There all done."
"Okay, I'm going to go talk to James now," I said.
"Just don't open the door," Marlene said. Marlene sat on the chair was I sitting on and Dorcas got started on her hair. They both had already gotten dressed in their matching baby pink bridesmaid dresses.
"You nervous?" James asked.
"Not at all," I replied "You?"
"Lily, I have been waiting for this day since I was thirteen," James said "I don't have room for nervousness." I laughed at that. "I'm going to let you be now," he continued "See you later."
"See you later," I whispered and left to get dressed in my wedding dress which had a mermaid cut with tulip sleeves.
**********
James and I agreed to a small wedding. After our encounter with Voldemort, who gave us a proposal to join his side, (we declined of course) we decided it was best to keep it as quiet as possible. The only people who were invited were all the members of the Order and James' parents. I invited Petunia despite my better judgement but she declined.
Marlene and Remus did a wonderful job of decorating the venue. I couldn't have done better myself. James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, Marlene, Dorcas and Dumbledore stood under a golden balloon arch at the alter. Blood rushed to my cheeks as James looked at me and gave me a short wave. The orchestra started up and beautiful violin music filled the air.
All eyes were on me. I took a few steps and forced myself to walk instead of run. James took my hand once I arrived at the alter. I handed my bouquet of lilies to Dorcas and took James' other hand.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered her to join James Potter and Lily Evans in holy matrimony," Dumbledore said "Love is a mysterious and it represents itself in many way. It may be love at first sight or you may turn from enemies to lovers, but it is love all the same. The love Lily and James share is no different. It is complete fate that these people before me have found each other." Dumbledore turned to Remus and he handed him two identical gold rings.
"Lily, repeat after me," Dumbledore said "I, Lily Evans."
"I, Lily Evans," I repeated and slipped a ring on James' finger.
"Take thee, James."
"Take thee, James."
"To be my lawfully wedded husband."
"To be my lawfully wedded husband."
"In sickness and in health."
"In sickness and in health."
"Till death do us part."
"Till death do us part." I said
"Now, James, repeat after me. I, James Potter." Dumbledore said turning to James.
"I, James Potter." James repeated, putting the ring on my finger. There was a small inscription on it which read '6 years, 8 months, and 27days'.
"Take thee, Lily." Dumbledore continued
"Take thee, Lily."
"To be my lawfully wedded wife."
"To be my lawfully wedded wife."
"In sickness and in health."
"In sickness and in health."
"Till death do us part."
"Till death do us part."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." Dumbledore said. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he held my waist. I gave him a long and passionate kiss.
"Welcome to the rest of your life," James said "Mrs. Potter."
**********
I lay down next to James staring at my ring, reading the inscription over and over again. The only people in the Gryffindor dormitory were Me, Marlene, Dorcas, Remus, Peter, James, Sirius, Alice, Frank Longbottom and three other students so there was plenty of room for all of us, not enough for us to have our own room but enough. James and I decided to move in and live in a dorm since we were married. Alice and Frank shared a dorm and so did Marlene and Sirius.
"What are you staring at love?" James asked, planting a kiss on my temple.
"What does this mean?" I said, referring to the inscription.
"That's how long it took for you to marry me," James whispered.
"6 years, 8 months and 27 days," I mumbled "From Lily Evans to Lily Potter."
"Mrs. Lily Potter," James repeated "Best three words I have heard in my life."
"Even more than I love you?" I joked, sitting up right.
"Why must you do this to me Ev- Potter?" he said, propping himself on his elbows. I giggled and kissed his forehead.
"What do you want to do now?" James asked.
"Well, how about the very cliché honeymoon tradition?" I said slowly. A mischievous grin sprawled across his face. He raised his hand and stroked his thumb across my cheek.
"I love cliché," James said, kissing me.
A/N: A couple of things. Credit to Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero), Brooklyn 99 for the wedding dress idea. Second, this chapter was a huge disappointment but I originally I was not going to write a wedding chapter but since they were married when they joined the Order I had to include it. If someone wants to re-write this, just pm me and I'll give you full credit. I'll see if I can improve it from time to time so just be on the look out for that. I also copied the ceremony from my Cursed Child Re-write book because I didn't know what else to do and... I guess that's it. Vote, comment, and check my grammar.
