Laying low for a couple of days in an out of town motel, Y/N finally thought it would finally be safe to return home. Her home. The house she refused to give up thinking she wanted to keep it for sentimental reasons. Now she knew it was just the universe saying 'keep it, you're gonna need it".

She knew hiding was a cowardly thing to do. But she couldn't face him yet, or anyone for that fact. She knew that if she saw him, she'd instantly go running back and that's not what she needed right now.

She needed to be away from him. Not only for herself but for him also. He needed to learn what life without her was like. To longer having her come running at his every beckon call. It was the only way he would know she was serious, that she was done.

But she wasn't done. Far from it.

Over the past two days she had to talk herself out of going back to him multiple times.

And as much as she felt like she was dying inside, she had to be strong. Because it was no longer just about her.

Sighing to herself as she swung her front door open for the first time in months, she looked around the eerily quiet home before stepping inside, swiping her finger through the gathered dust on the table by the door before dropping her bag.

As much as she loved her first home, she hoped she would never have a reason to return to it.

Taehyung was going insane. The last time he had heard from her she was walking home alone in the snow, assuring him that she would talk to the girls, and he was hoping that they would be able to talk some sense into her, to convince her that now was not the time to suddenly decide to be single.

He went to their home, giving up on constantly calling her just for his calls to go unanswered.

Punching in the code for the gate, he ignored the fact that maybe they wanted to be alone. And if that was the case, as long as he could see that she was fine, he would leave them to fix their problems.

But what he walked in on was terrifying. He found Jimin laid out on the floor of their once shared kitchen, beer and liquor bottles surrounding his body as he curled up in the foetal position sobbing his heart out, screaming to Taehyung that his life was over, that he had lost everything.

He hated to leave him in that state, but at that moment Tae had other priorities. She was missing. And not missing as in hiding out in the garden on a swing again. No one had heard from her for days. But he was sure that if she was not with Jimin, he'd know where to find her.

With a quick call to his brother, Taehyung was charging back out of the door to the mansion, leaving Jimin on the floor as he made a quick sprint towards Y/N's old home.

Sighing in relief as he pulled down the handle of the front door to find it unlocked, he walked inside towards the sound of quiet sobs coming from the kitchen.

"Gorgeous?" Tae whispered, treading carefully as he walked into the kitchen seeing her rinsing her glassware in the sink, soap suds up to her elbows as she scrubbed vigorously. "What's going on? I've just been to your house and Jimin said that you had left. Why are you here?"

"It's over Tae." She whispered, keeping her back turned away from him. He knew she was hurting by the waver in her voice. "I know you told me to think about my decisions, but I can't anymore. For once I need to be selfish."

She didn't want him to see her face, she wanted him to believe that she was dead set in her decision, that he would agree that she was doing the right thing, but she knew he wouldn't, he would tell her the truth because they were best friends.

That's the wonderful thing about wearing a mask to hide your real relationship, no one can really see the pain you're hiding behind it. As long as from the outside it all looks like candy and rainbows, no one bothers to ask how solid your relationship actually is.

"I just couldn't take it anymore." She continued. "Did you know that over the past 3 months, he has spent a total of maybe 2 and a half weeks actually sleeping beside me? He has become so wrapped up in proving himself to his poker buddies, that he has completely forgotten about me, about us. He didn't care about the wedding, the house, me, and I just couldn't do it Tae. I felt so lonely in that house."

Finally breaking down, she let all of her emotions pour out of her, all of the heartache from the past three months finally coming to the surface. She was sick of putting on a brave face, pretending everything was okay, when in reality, she was devastated. Finally admitting that she had been battling the feeling of loneliness only brought back the memories of the countless nights and the countless meals that she had alone.

"Do you think this is wise?" Tae asked, still hanging back not wanting to have her thrash out and take all of her pain out on him.

"It needed to be done." She sniffled. "And I know what you're thinking, I couldn't have walked out at a worse time. But it's okay right?" She said, turning to look at him for the first time since he walked in, her bloodshot eyes and puffy face making him reel back in pain. "I can count on you to help me can't I? You wouldn't abandon me would you?"

"Well of course not gorgeous, you know that. But I really shouldn't be the one that has to be helping you right now."

"And why not? Are you not my best friend?" She frowned at him before turning back towards the sink. "Don't be another man that I can't count on Tae."

"Well yeah of course I am, you know you can always count on me" Tae said, creasing his eyebrows as he finally had the courage to approach her. "But the baby will still need its father."
