Sitting in his office, Jimin didn't think that it would be this way. He didn't think that he would be sitting alone getting ready for a Skype call to his parents with Y/N not by his side to share the good news.
He always imagined that when the day would come and they would be getting to share exciting news that he would be gathered around all of his family and friends by his side, getting to watch them all become elated and congratulate them and after having a party to celebrate.
But now he was alone.
He never realised how large his home actually was until he was forced to be alone inside the overwhelming walls. But now he understood how Y/N must have felt. It was hauntingly lonely.
Smiling as Y/N popped up on the screen, he gave her a small wave as he watched her getting comfortable on her sofa with a mug of green tea in her hand, Cleo laying behind her on the back of the sofa sound asleep.
"How are you feeling?"
"I'm okay." She nodded. "Missing coffee."
"I can bring you some decaf if you like?" He was hopeful that it may be an excuse to see her. Since dropping off her folic acid and prenatal vitamins a week earlier he had not had the chance to see her. Not that he didn't want to, he just didn't want to suffocate her when the only thing she requested from him was space.
""It's okay." She shook her head, making his optimistic shoulders drop at her denying her offer. "I'm actually quite liking the tea. I think I'll try peppermint next."
"Let me bring you some." He blurted out, causing her to laugh and nod her head.
"That would be really helpful actually, thank you Jimin."
"You know I would do anything for you Y/N." He frowns, a slight pout forming on his lips as he thinks of all the things he hadn't been doing lately. "Anything for you and little bun."
"Bun?" Y/N asked. "What the hell is bun?"
"The baby." Jimin grinned. "That's what their nickname will be. My little bun in the oven. Bun."
"I love it." She laughed. "Little Bun."
"I lov-"
"Your parents are calling." She cut, answering the call before Jimin could have the chance to convey his feelings.
"Hi guys!" His dad smiled wide as he waved enthusiastically. "Wait, why are you on separate calls?"
"I'm in the living room." Y/N answered, seeing that Jimin was struggling to come up with an answer. "It's easier this way."
"Okay then." His mom nodded. "So.... Jimin said he has some news for us. Have you finally decided on a date for the wedding?"
They could see the excitement and anticipation in their faces as they awaited the news, causing Jimin to freeze. With everything that was going on, he hadn't even realised that Y/N leaving him meant there wasn't even going to be a wedding. Not any time soon at least. He knew that the news of the baby would serve as a distraction, but for how long? They would always press him on setting a date, especially now that they were expecting a baby.
"We've had to postpone the wedding." Y/N spoke up, making Jimin's eyes widen. "I don't want to look fat in my wedding dress."
"Oh honey, you don't need to worry about that." His mom frowned. "Why would you be worried abou- OMG!!!"
Laughing as they watched his mom jumping around the room clapping her hands, they found it funnier as his dad continued to look between his wife and his son, trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
"What did I miss?" His dad asked, removing his glasses and coming closer to the screen. "What's going on?"
"How far?" His mom asked, shoving his still highly confused dad out of the way.
"13 weeks now." Y/N smiled. "We were going with June 12th but as you can probably guess, I would be right in the thick of it by then."
"WHAT is going on?!" His dad yelled, now shoving his mom out of the way of the screen.
"Dad." Jimin laughed before lifting the picture of the first scan in front of the screen. "We're having a baby."
"Well I'll be damned." His dad choked out. "My boy is a man. Congratulations."
"Thank you." Y/N and Jimin said in unison, glancing at each other through the screen.
"We're really excited." Jimin smiled. "Shocked but excited."
"Make sure she takes that frolic acid." His dad instructs sternly. "That is very important." "It's called folic dad." Jimin laughs, apparently forgetting that he had made exactly the same mistake.
"I'm so happy!!!!" They hear his mom squealing in the background. "Have you told your parents yet Y/N?"
"Not yet, they're coming to visit next week so I'll tell them then."
This was news to Jimin. She had never mentioned about them visiting any time in the near future. But if they were coming here, they were soon going to figure out that something was wrong when they are suddenly in Y/N's house rather than his.
"Oh we will need to come down and see them." Jimin's mom smiles. "Maybe go out for dinner or something."
"Sounds good." Y/N nods. "Anyway, I need to pee. I'll see you both next week?"
After bidding goodbye to all of them, Y/N's half of the screen goes blank leaving Jimin with his parents, his mom still dancing around the room as his dad glares at him.
"What's wrong?" Jimin asks, noticing his dad's judgmental look. The same look he grew to be very familiar with when he was growing up and was hiding something from his dad. Jimin's dad may seem like a very laid back man, but he could read his children like the back of his hand. So seeing Jimin being so quiet whilst Y/N did most of the talking, raised his suspicions that something was definitely wrong and Jimin was hiding something important from them.
"Cathy, can you leave for a minute please? I need to talk to Jimin alone."
Swallowing the lump in his throat, Jimin watched as his mom blew him a kiss before disappearing out of the room leaving him faced with the one man he can't lie to.
"Okay, first of all son, I would recognise Y/N's sofa anywhere. I've passed out on it enough times after she's fed me. So tell me, why are you guys in separate houses right now?"
"Dad." Jimin chokes, wiping his face as the tears endlessly cascade down his rosy cheeks. "I fucked up."
