For the past few hours, Nathan and Mia had been chatting in her room. When she sat up with an excited gasp, he had stared at her in amusement. Nathan sat near the foot of Mia's bed with his eyes closed as she had instructed. He heard her rummage around the room and pull open a drawer before walking back to the bed. The bed settled as she sat down again. "Ok, open your eyes."
Nathan opened his eyes and looked down as she handed him a greeting card. The front was white and decorated with rows of multicolored hearts. "Is this for our one-month anniversary? I didn't get you anything," he confessed.
"That's fine, I only got you the card. I just wanted to give it to you today since it's our one month. I was going to put any of the names I've called you before, like Nikolai or Norman or Nolan. But I wanted the first time I said it to be with your actual name." Nathan opened the card as she talked. He read the paragraph she had written inside, detailing how wonderful and sensational the past month had been. Mia read the final few sentences out loud at the same time he got to it. "I love you, Nathan Caldwell. I love you more than I thought was possible. I love you and thank you for letting me love you as much as you love me." Mia looked at him, hopeful his response would be positive.
Nathan dropped the card and scooted forward. Wrapping her in a hug, he leaned down to kiss her cheek. "I love you. Hearing you say it is the most phenomenal thing I could ever ask for."
Mia laughed as she laid backward, still wrapped up in his hug, her risen shirt exposing a strip of her stomach. Her hair splayed across the pillow as she stared up at her boyfriend. Her hand came up to trace his facial features, starting with the smile on his face. One of his hands held her waist as the other tenderly held her face. "I love you more," she whispered.
"It's not possible," he insisted, matching the volume of her words. "You are my moon and my sun. I love you more than the millions of bright stars in the night sky," he said. Leaning down, he kissed her. Mia smiled against the kiss and gently pulled him down towards her, wanting to be as close to him as possible.
The sweet kiss was broken when their phones buzzed with a notification at the same time. Mia put a hand on his chest to push him away, causing him to pout. Laughing, she reached over to her side table and grabbed her phone. Unlocking it, she saw it was from the group chat that included Hazel, Violet, Nathan, and Evan. "Evan is inviting us to hang out. He claims it will be the most fun time of our lives. It will also be more entertaining than anything you could come up with."
"I vote we stay here in your room."
"Oh come on, it will be fun," she sent him a pleading look, green eyes wide and a soft pout on her face.
Nathan sighed. "I'm going to kill him. Let's go."
Mia scrambled off the bed with a grin. Turning to Nathan who was still laying on her bed, she leaned down and placed a kiss on his cheek. "I love you."
Even though he tried to fight it, the corners of his mouth tugged upwards. "I love you too."
They held hands as they left her yellow room, off to spend time with their friends. Emilia Wilson was completely ecstatic that she had started fake dating the bad boy.
