A Shift Between Dimensions

Academy... Dog Training... Books...

Melissa glanced over at Iruka as they walked to the Academy together the next morning.  Her body was still humming from the countless times they had made love through the night.  It was amazing either of them were able to function.  He had been so sweet that he had run out and got her a new outfit while she was showering.  She felt much more comfortable in the pants and dress shirt.  He had cautioned her before they had set out for the day.

"It would be best if no one knew we were... dating, Melissa," he said softly.  "At least initially.  The last thing you would want is for people to assume you go this job just so we could fool around.  After a while, we can come out as dating but for now..."

Melissa gave a nod of her head, "I understand.  I'll make sure we're always professional in front of others."

He had smiled and gave her another kiss that curled her toes, "Are you ready to go?"

"Yes," she responded with a grin.

Iruka was having a hard time keeping his eyes off Melissa as they walked.  He had shoved his hands in his pockets to keep from reaching out to her.  She looked around with wide eyes as he unlocked the door and let them both in, leaving the door unlocked.  The school was quiet in the early hour and she felt such a sense of peace as she walked through the halls.  She felt like she had found the place she was supposed to be.

He lead her into a large office and she looked around.  It was crammed full of books and scrolls.  The man was definitely well read!  He gave her a grin as he firmly shut the door then pulled her close to him and gave her another kiss.

"I'm gonna have a hard time not grabbing you," he said as he pulled away from her.  "I don't know what you've done to me but... damn."

Melissa giggled then straightened as a knock came on the door.  He motioned her to stand by the desk before calling for them to enter.  Anko Mitarashi came in and shifted her glance from Iruka to Melissa.

"Anko, you're here early," Iruka said with a smile.  "Melissa Wright, this is one of our instructors, Anko Mitarashi.  Anko, this is Melissa my new secretary."

Anko gave a nod of her head, "Nice to meet you, Melissa.  Maybe you can help him stay on top of everything.  He's overworked."

"I will do my best," Melissa said with a nod of her head.

"Are you new to the village?  I don't remember seeing you before."

"Yes, I got here with my sisters two days ago," she responded with a smile.

Anko nodded her head then turned her eyes to Iruka, "Did you talk to the Tzo's?"

Iruka gave a heavy sigh, "Yes and as we expected, they didn't take us dropping their kid from the program very well at all."

"Shino was wanting to talk to you about some ideas for the class coming up," Anko said next.  "He'll probably be popping in soon too."

"Noted," Iruka said.  "I'm going to go over with Melissa everything I'll be needing her to do.  Could you hold the wolves at bay for the next thirty minutes?"

Anko smirked slightly, "I'll try but you're always in high demand."  She looked at Melissa as she started towards the door, "Good luck, you're gonna need it."

Iruka waited for the door to shut before letting out a breath.  "That was close.  I suppose I should go over everything with you although now I'm thinking I should have called in after all."

Melissa laughed then moved closer, "Why Mr. Umino, are you having a hard time with little ol' me?"

"You have no idea," he grinned.  "Okay, come on I'll show you all the files and other stuff."
