Melissa felt like something was wrong, very wrong. Her intuition was screaming at her as she walked across her living room. Sebastian was on his tummy doing "tummy time" as she picked up a few things around the house. He was screaming bloody murder too. That kid did not like that at all! He was definitely a Mama's boy as he loved nothing more than for her to carry him around with her all over the place. She instinctively went over and swiped him up into her arms, even though he had another five minutes to go. She shifted her eyes around, unsure what was causing her unease. She wished Iruka was home at that moment but he was still at the Academy for the day.
She went to the kitchen and picked the phone up as she shifted Sebastian so she could dial. The hair on the back of her neck was standing up as she listened to the phone ring incessantly on the opposite side. She was about to hang up when someone picked it up on the other side.
"Hello?"
Melissa let out a long sigh, "Klaudia? What are you doing at Sarah's place?"5
Klaudia chuckled on the other end, "Konahamaru wants me to stay here when he's gone on missions. He said it was safer. Something about some missing scrolls?"
Melissa frowned slightly, "Huh... Iruka mentioned something about that too when he was setting up more security. Wonder what all that was about? Did Sarah say anything about it?"
"Hmm. No but I haven't seen her today. Her and Kakashi were both gone when I got over here this morning. I'm not sure where they are at. Konahamaru had a spare key to their place. I was just getting settled in when you called." A long pause followed, "What's wrong, Melissa?"
"I don't know... I just got a strange feeling is all..."
"You want me to come over?"
"No, no. You got those twins and that would be a pain in the ass. I think I might come over there instead. Sebastian should meet your sweethearts any ways."
Klaudia chuckled, "Okay, I'll keep an eye out for you."
Melissa hung the the phone up, got Sebastian settled into a kangaroo carrier, grabbed his travel bag and hurried out of her place. She could not shake the feeling as she moved through the village that she was being watched. It had gotten stronger the moment she left her place. If she hadn't been in the middle of the village, she would have been totally freaked out but surrounded by so many people...
She gasped as she was suddenly grabbed as she was passing by an alley, right in broad daylight. A kunai went to her throat and eyes were golden in color - freaking golden like a lion - was glaring into her own. She went completely still, very aware that her son was not that far away from the kunai at her throat either. He was making gurgling noises, completely unaware of just how much danger the two of them were in at that moment.
"What the fuck..." she managed to get out.
"If you know what is good for you and your son, you'll keep your mouth shut and come quietly, Mrs. Umino," the woman in front of her said in a low tone. "I have no problem exterminating a child if necessary."
"Bitch, you just signed your own death warrant threatening my child that way," Melissa growled low, narrowing her eyes. "I'll comply for now but you're on my list."
The woman smirked in response then nodded to the one who had grabbed her off the street. A cloak was thrown around her and Sebastian, concealing them both immediately. The one who had grabbed her did not remove his hand from her arm as the woman turned and started down into the darkest part of the alley, away from the busy streets beyond. She could have yelled for help but they could have killed her or Sebastian before anyone even responded. She couldn't risk Sebastian's life, even if it irked her how easily they had grabbed her.
