Melissa was amazed as she watched the way Iruka dealt with the parents of the child that was raising all kinds of hell at the Academy. As they had approached the home, it was quite obvious they were very affluent. She cast a sidelong glance at him. His expression grew more serious as they approached and he had glanced over at her. "You don't need to do anything, just be a witness to what is said. They're not going to be very happy with what I have to say."
As she watched silently, she was impressed with how cool headed he was in dealing with them. They had raised quite a stink, even promising to have him removed as the principal of the Academy if he did not allow their son to remain in the Academy. Iruka stood his ground and as they were shown out of the home by the butler, he waited until the door shut before letting out a pent up breath. She reached out and held his hand as they walked away from the home.
"You were amazing," she said. "I could never have remained that cool with someone as nasty as they were."
"What would you have done?"
Melissa felt her face flush with color as she side eyed him, "Honestly?" He nodded. "I might have slapped that bitch."
Iruka's eyes widened then he started laughing hard. He tugged on a strand of her hair before saying, "So your temper is as bright as your hair." He stopped as she turned a deeper shade of red and reached out to cup the side of her face while leaning down to meet her eyes. "There is nothing wrong with a bit of fire if you're not scared to get burned."
Melissa felt her insides go to mush at the words and the way he was looking at her. "Are you afraid of getting burned, Iruka?"
A devilish twinkle entered his eyes before he abruptly leaned forward and gave her a quick kiss. "Does that answer your question?" Melissa felt giddy at the kiss and gave him a nod. He tugged on her hand, "I know just the perfect place for us to have dinner."
They rode the train back to the older section of the city. The train was packed and they ended up having to stand. Iruka pulled her closer to the pole they were holding, wrapping one arm around her as the train rocketed down the track. He was giving her a look that was almost smoldering as they got closer to their stop.
"We'll get off at the next stop," he told her softly.
As the train came to a stop, he put his hand on the small of her back and guided her out of the train. Iruka surprised her as he stopped at a food street vendor. He glanced back at her before ordering, "Do you trust me?"
Melissa grinned, "Absolutely."
He then ordered for them both and a moment later they were walking down the street with a bag of food in hand. Her eyes widened slightly as they turned down a residential district and he led her up to a small home. He pulled keys out of his pocket and opened the door. Oh my. Was he serious? Talk about bold. Not that Melissa was worried in the least as she knew exactly what kind of a man he was and had been crushing hard for him for years now. What was surprising to her was that from his perspective, she knew very little about him but yet he was bold enough to bring her back to his own home.
Melissa felt her face warm a little as she walked past him to enter the home. It was the home of a scholar. One wall was nothing but bookcases that were filled with books and scrolls. He had a television; however, it was small and not what she had been used to with men she had dated in the past. They had always had big televisions and gaming systems. Everything was in neutral colors and as she looked around, it felt like him - the him she had seen in the show. She smiled as she saw the photograph of him with Naruto and Hinata at their wedding on the wall.
"Oh, is that Naruto?" she asked coyly.
Iruka gave a nervous chuckle, "Yes. He's kind of like the son I never had."
