jade was having a bad day. no, no, that was an understatement. jade was having a bad week. no. no. jade was having a horrible, terrible, detrimental, earth shattering kind of few weeks.

and it wasn't anything in particular, just everything. logan had been nothing but antsy and begging for attention for the past few weeks since nina starting teething. so every few minutes nina was screaming bloody murder because she had bones ripping through her flesh.

and every few minutes logan was screaming bloody murder because his parents were preoccupied.

and she understood the child. it's hard going from an only child to having someone who takes that away from you so quickly. she would do the same thing if she was logan.

but it was taking its toll on her. and her baby books had warned her about this too.

but it seemed like no one understood how hard she was trying for her kids. except beck. he was amazing about it.

constantly offering to step in for her whenever she needed a break, always trying to whisk nina away when she started sobbing so jade could stay with logan, and he always let her cuddle into his shoulder as he rubbed her back until she fell asleep in his arms.

and this morning was no different. jade woke up not only extremely tired from being up with nina but also looking sick. ok maybe not sick, but sickly.

"stay in bed today with the lights off and just relax" he had told her before he pulled the covers over her and walked out of the room to grab their kids.

it was one day and she was going to be asleep in the next room over, how bad could it be?

"hey bubba" beck opened the door to logan's room to find him sitting on the edge of his bed.

"mornin dadda" he mumbled, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

logan had inherited not being a morning person from jade but nina always seemed to be awake at the crack of dawn, ready to party.

"wanna go get nini?" he asked softly, reaching for the little boys hand who took it and jumped off his bed.

beck looked into her crib to find the child sitting against the bars and sucking on her thumb intently, looking up at him with her big brown eyes. he grabbed her, holding one of her blankets on her back as he placed her on his hip.

"mornin nini" logan stammered out and nina immediately reached for him, her tiny fingers opening from a fist.

"she's saying morning to you lo" beck smiled and now logan seemed suddenly fully awake as he beamed at his little sister.

"hi niniiii" he said a little louder this time and nina babbled back louder too, making logan squeal and start to giggle, which immediately made nina start giggling too.

"she loves you lo" beck was practically about to start crying at the sweet sight in front of him. but then-

"where's momma?" logan looked up at him and beck sighed.

"she's sleeping logi and she's really tired so we are gonna let her be asleep all day" beck whispered softly and logan nodded.

"can you be a big boy and be on your best behavior for daddy?" beck tried and logan seemed to ponder the question.
