"logi what are you doing?" jade cooed as her four year old smiled up at her from their living room couch. he was sitting there, happy as a clam, propped on a cushion with ninas tiny legs draped over his.

"howldinh nihni" he tried to say through his binky, looking back at the television.

he didn't usually use his binky much these days, only when something especially stressful was happening.

like today.

"without your binky" she encouraged, reaching forward and pulling it from his mouth.

"holdin' nini" he repeated, wiping the drool from his mouth and placing a kiss on nina's head as she smiled, squealing as logan wrapped his arms tighter around her.

"my babies" jade smiled blissfully, taking her phone out of her back pocket and holding it up.

"smile babies" she instructed and logan immediately perked up, modeling in front of the camera like he was born for it. nina tried to smile and get in front of logan, raising her small chubby arms in the air.

"i gotta send this to daddy" jade told the kids as she sat down next to them on the couch, both of their attention going back to the television program playing.

miss you.

she texted him the photo and sighed as her phone read 'delivered' and she placed it on the table.

beck had left two days ago for a four day business trip and even though jade knew he had to go, it was an amazing opportunity, she missed him more than anything. logan and nina did too, not fully understanding why their dad had to leave or where he went. needless to say there had been lots of visits and help from friends and family while he had been away. jades phone buzzed suddenly and she lifted it, smiling when she read becks name across the screen.

miss you more. bubba and bug look so happy. cannot wait to see you in a few days xoxo.

she sighed happily and smiled at the screen, before directing her attention back to her children and cuddling them into her arms.

"you're such a good big brother lo" she praised, pulling down the leg of his pajama pants and brushing back his hair.

"i luh' her" he said through his binky, which he usually didn't use but beck not being there had been weird for him, so jade took it back out to quiet his crying at night without his dad. beck usually read him a story and jade had learned the hard way that quote "no one did it like daddy".

"do you love... mommy?" jade prompted and logan nodded furiously as she listed off family members he loved.

errands had always been an adventure with children, especially grocery shopping. and jade needed to go get food or else logan and nina were going to have to start eating dust bunnies from under the vents. and usually one of them would stay with the kids and the other would go grocery shopping. but jade had to take them with her today. and logan and nina were a little more than excited.

"der' gonna be choc' mamma?" logan asked from the backseat and she glanced at his smiley face in her rear view mirror.

"choc'!" nina squealed and jade sighed.

"yes there is lo, but we're not gonna get any alright? we have sweets at home" she told the child whose face fell and threatened to start a level 10 tantrum right then and there.

"mamaaaa" he almost wailed and she shushed him.

"logan if you and your sister are good at the grocery store i'll make sure to tell daddy when he comes home and maybe he'll make you his special cookies" she bribed and logan immediately perked back up.
