March 2007

"That's really good Matt, one more take for shits and giggles." Noelle said into the booth. They were tracking vocals for Unbound, her favorite song on the record, and to say she was being a huge perfectionist about it would be an understatement. She adored this song and was constantly astonished that songs like that popped out of someone as reserved as Matt.

"I never viewed my life as something, slipping away!" Matt belted, and Noelle clasped her hands together.

"It's perfect. It's actually fucking perfect. That was the winning pony." She smiled, thumbs upping at him. While this album was more self-directed, they loved having her through the whole process to work with.

Noelles phone started frantically buzzing, which was unexpected because she always silences her phone while recording. A glance at the caller ID told her that her father was calling.

"Hey David," she picked up, stepping away slightly. "What's up?"

"There's a boy here for you," David said. Him and Noelle were always very straight to the point with each other. "Says his name is Trevor? Travis? Some shit like that."

"Well in that case, threaten him with the rifle and tell him to choke on his own cum and die."

The five boys in the studio if not laughing were coughing trying to choke down the laugh. "Jesus Christ Noelle, who's on your shitlist?" Johnny yelled.

Noelle had a soft spot for Johnny and had ever since she met him. They hit it off pretty instantly and had become extremely close.

"He had something for you, said it was a notebook."

Noelle scrunched her eyebrows. "A notebook?"

"Yeah. It's a white one, a million doodles on the front. Big bright red letters sayin' Ellowyn Clarke."

"Definitely mine I guess." She scratched the back of her head. "Why don't I grab it when I visit home next month?"

"Sure, sounds alright to me. This guy, Trenton..."

"Travis."

"He wanted me to tell you he was sorry, I guess? For all he put you through. His words."

"If he's still there tell him I will never forgive him for a day of his miserable existence."

"SHE SAYS SHE WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR A DAY OF YER MISERABLE EXISTENCE!" She heard David call out, which made her chuckle.

"Bye dad, I love you."

"Love you too Ellie."

"Uh, dad?" She asked, this time stepping out of the studio into the hallway. "Do you remember who used to call me Ells?"

"Hmmm. Couldn't have been your mother, she hated ya' too much for any nickname but Ellie. Your actual dad maybe?"

"Never." She shook her head. "Always Winnie."

"Well I ain't sure then." He said. "Have a day at work." He said.

"You have a day too." She said. David was currently taking care of another kid, her foster sister Darien.

She hung up, headed back into the studio.  "Alright. That wraps up Matt's tracking on Unbound."

Everyone whooped and sighed deep sighs of relief. Noelle had really tested all their patients to make the songs they had recorded the best they could be. All that was left for Unbound was the choir and the little kids.
