2017

"Thank you New York, we love y'all to absolute death and can't wait til next time!"

The tour had been great so far. They'd been nominated for a grammy, released The Stage, and Brian had just had his first child with his wife, Michelle.

But every night of this tour, it had felt like there was something in the air. A feeling, a nostalgia he couldn't put his finger on.

Weird things like that wove their way through life occasionally; when Brian had heard Exist for the first time after the album had been released, he had sat in his car and cried—a huge emotional release he hadn't known he needed.

One More Song!

A crowd of thousands screamed for an encore.

He looked into the blue cut rocks on his bracelet, adjusting it carefully as he mentally prepared to go back out on stage.

"This one's called Afterlife."

The anxiety quickly subsided, and he couldn't think of a place he'd rather be.

And he lived. And maybe in a grocery store, or in the same building producing a record, he would pass by a girl with pale blonde hair and the weirdest business-casual outfit you could picture. But it really wouldn't have mattered anyway.

THE END
