When they pulled back everyone was still screaming, laughing, and plenty others still making out. He was smiling an exhausted grin back at her, but his eyes were glowing in a way she hadn't seen all night. She was smiling back before she saw a deadpan Anya pulling at the side of her dress, rolling her eyes. "Oh, I, Uhm..." She said, her arms still to the sides of his neck. "Brian, Anya. Anya, Brian."
"Hi," He said, actually blushing much to both the girls' surprise. Brian hasn't ever exactly been a shy dude. "I was just, uh, Happy New Year," He laughed nervously, ducking out. "I'm gonna uh, find Matt so we can dip."
"Sounds good." Arden smiled at him, like a fuckin' high schooler.
Anya stood in front of her, her arms crossed.
"What?" Arden said, truly not getting the pissed expression staring back at her. Anya didn't reply, just glared into her soul. "What?! Seriously, you're freaking me out."
"It didn't take you long at all to get well acquainted again." She hissed. "You hardly even waited a few minutes after finding out my husband was dead."
Ohhhh, there it was.
"Shit, Mands..." She said, trying to take her friend's hand.
"Just," Anya pulled back, slamming her eyes shut. "Don't. Okay? I'm glad things are gonna be able to go back to normal for you so soon."
"Mandy it's fucking new years! I wasn't the one who even kissed him!" She made excuses. "I swear, he kissed me first."
"It's not the point." The dissaproving glare was a lot worse than the words coming out of her mouth. "Let's just find Matt. Lead by example, or, fuck, whatever." She turned on her heels, abandoning Arden in the middle of the bar.

"A limo," Arden clicked her tongue. "We're carpooling in a limo."
"I know right? We're such a big deal." Brian rolled his eyes, all of a sudden going back to the cold demeanor he carried when they first bumped into each other. He was the first to hop in, the others following. People were flooding out of the bar little by little, leaning on each other and yelling goodbyes in loud drunk shouts.
She imagined Jimmy making a funny remark about travelling via limo, and a flooding feeling of sadness surged in her for a moment as she crammed in besides Anya and a girl she had never met before.
"Hi!" The girl she had never met before smiled, extending a hand. The girl had light brown hair that hung in loose waves, and really gorgeous blue eyes. "I'm Jules, Matt was just telling me about you guys."
Anya kept her emotionless expression, leaving it up to Arden to not appear rude. "Oh, hey, yeah! I just met Matt but he had really nice things to say to you, I'm Arden, this is my best friend Anya. We're pretty new around here."
"I can totally tell. Intuition. Well it'll be great to have y'all over, I'm pretty used to being the only girl in the friend group."
Wow, they make friends fast. Arden had forgotten just how accepting the guys were. "Only an hour in and we're being adopted, huh?"
This made Jules laugh. "Yeah, totally. I was in a pretty shitty situation with my ex-boyfriend before I met Matt a few years ago. They totally took me in. And threatened the hell out of the scrawny motherfucker leaving me angry voicemails after I dumped him."
"Jules is the group extrovert, if that wasn't obvious." Brian leaned across as the car jolted into drive, his hand on her knee. She shot a smile at him.
