"Like I thought, nada comes up on a google search about how to kill a purgatory demon. Who would've thought most people who end up at the devils door don't come back up for air?" Mandy sifted through pages and pages of search results. "Actually that's a lie. Too much comes up."
"Well what's the synopsis?" Brian said, crushing up some Xanax on his kitchen counter. If it wasn't obvious Brian wasn't in the vicinity of the wagon since Noelle said if you can't tell me, what's the point in staying together. So he was gonna concoct a plan to kill Thellessany, quit pills and get back his girlfriend.
Yeah. That'd work.
In that order too.
He snorted a couple lines before coming back over to Mandy. Mandy just blew out some air.
"Everything says something slightly different. But, a lot of these sites are saying those who are in purgatory, all had to die to get there. Even the demons. If you can kill her in the exact way she died... It says you should be free. Any other way, you could kill her a million times and she wouldn't even feel pain."
"Well lets hope she didn't die of old age." Brian said, internally letting out a long FUUUUUUUUUUCK.
"Something tells me if she got trapped in eternal damnation and got promoted to top dog, that she wouldn't have passed away quietly in her sleep."
Brian thought for a few seconds before plotting his idea.
"She's never met you. You're just Jim's wife to her. She wouldn't know I filled you in on everything." He pitched. "If she doesn't have reason to suspect anything... She might not use mind control on you. And you can find out how she died.
"And if she does? Brian, how am I gonna figure out how she died?"
Brian sighed out, sniffing slightly. "I don't know."

"Hey, girl!" Mandy fake smiled, extending her arms to hug the purple haired woman, and also fighting back the urge to chick fight her for hurting her brother. "I've heard so much about you from Matt."
She laid the kindness on thick and prayed nothing unwanted weaseled its way into her psyche. Brian said she couldn't read minds, but she could pry in whenever she wanted.
"You too! Jim never shuts up about you. You're just as beautiful as he says." Thellessany hugged her. The first thing Mandy noticed was how cold she was; her skin was like ice to the touch. She noticed Mandy's visible confusion at her touch. "Oh. My bad dude, I have a blood disorder."
"No, no big. I heard, uh..." She looked away. "You don't have to pretend around me."
Thellessany gave her a questioning look. "Excuse me?"
"Brian told me you two were friends! In purgatory. Yeah, um, I know about all that." She prayed she was a good enough actor now that they were at a point in conversation of no return. "He said you were close. It's nice to finally meet you."
"Then you know my names not really Laney..." She trailed off, feigning worry.
Mandy took her hand. "Thellessany, right?"
"Oh, good! I much prefer my real name. it's a breath of fresh air to not have to pretend." She said as they walked into the cafe together. They sat down without ordering, and Mandy did her best new-girl-friend small talk.
When Mandy and Noelle met, they hit it off instantly. Talked for hours and hours and had a sleepover the very first night they met.
Mandy tried to replicate that.
