Everything is going to be fine, I tried to tell myself as I pulled Grace's car into the parking lot the next day. With a deep breath, I finally gained the courage to walk in.
“Over here!” I heard Rydel exclaim as I walked in. I turned to see three beautiful girls walking over to me, all of which had a pure smile on their face. Suddenly I felt my worry fade away, they were nice girls, I shouldn't have worried do much. I smiled as I walked over to them.
After we all got our drinks, Rydel, Kelly, Avery, and I walked to a table right next to the large window were we feel all the light pouring in.
“Sunny, you have to tell us all about the movie!” Kelly gushed, pushing her brown hair out of her face.
I couldn't help but notice how Sunny glowed as she started to talk about her new movie. “It was amazing! The cast and crew was amazing!”
“What was it like working with Logan Lerman?” Rydel asked with a smirk on her face. “Man, that boy is hot.” We all laughed as she playfully fanned herself.
“He was pretty cool,” She rested her hand on Rydel's shoulder sarcastically. “And yes, he was hot, very, very hot.”
I couldn't help but laugh at them faun over one of the hottest teen actors since Zac Efron.
We stopped laughing when Sunny's cell phone started to ding. With a groan she pulled out her phone. “Sorry, my manager was just telling me that I was booked for the recording studio tomorrow.” She explained putting her cell phone on the table, where I noticed that her back ground was a picture of Rocky and a black and white dog.
“What are you recording?” I asked with a genuine interest.
“I am starting to record my first album called All About A Boy.” She was jumping up and down in her seat like a little kid who had to much candy. When I asked how she got the name, she explained that the all of the songs on the cd where all love songs. “When Rocky and I broke up, instead of crying, which I still ended up doing a lot of, I wrote songs.” She gave me a sad smile, I could tell she was thinking about the black times in her past. Ross never told me what happened, but he did tell me that Rocky and Sunny did break up at some point. “All of the songs are bout different points in a relationship. From meeting to breaking up.”
Before I could even ask she let out a sweet smile. “And yes, all of them are about Rocky.”
“All About A Boy.” Kelly smiled. “I like it, can't wait to get it.” She turned to me, “Ross told us you were in a band too. Old School Photo, right?”
“How'd you guys get that name?” Rydel asked, taking a sip from her tea.
I bit my lip, trying to line up the right words before starting. “We actually just broke up the band.” They all went wide eyed, asking what happened. “You know, the bass player and I had some issues, and I decided that it was time for me to leave the band.” I explained.
“Are you still playing?” Avery asked, looking at me with her big brown eyes. I nodded my head, causing her to grin. “That's great, maybe one day soon we can all go see you preform.”
“You never answered my question.” Rydel exclaimed playfully.
I laughed. “Okay, I know it's a weird, but when the band first got together, of course we didn't have a name. And one day when we were at the bassist's house, his mom had brought down a bunch of pictures from the attic. We started to look through them, and one of the guys was like 'Look at this old school photo'.” I laughed at the memory, soon they were laughing with me.
We seriously sat in that coffee house for at least two hours, just talking. I can't believe that I was nervous to come. Eventually Rydel and Kelly had to leave, but Avery and I lingered around a little more.
“I can see why Ross like you so much.” She smiled as she started on her second cup of tea.
“And I can see why Rocky loves you.” I smiled back.
Suddenly we were interrupted as a girl with a head full of brown curls came sliding into the seat next to Sunny. When I got a better look at her face, I realized that it was Ross' co star Laura. And from the looks of it, she was in tears. I glanced over to Avery, who looked torn between wanting to punch her and run away crying. What the heck...
“What do you want Laura?” Sunny's voice was harsher than I have ever heard before. The crying girl tried to rest her hand on Sunny's, but she pulled way. “I'm not going to ask again.”
“Avery, I am so sorry.” Laura cried. “I know what I did was wrong, I truly know that. If I could go back and change everything that happed, I would.”
I glanced over to Sunny. She didn't look so punchy, more teary.
“Because of what happened, I have lost so many of my friends, including Ross, who was my best friend. I feel horrible for making you go through that.” She reached for Sunny's hand again, and this time she didn't pull away. “Please forgive me?”
I don't think I should be watching this... As I tried to stand up, I felt someone grab my hand and pull me back down. I followed my hand to see Avery gripping me like her life depended on it. I realized she need someone to stand with her, so stayed.
“Laura, what you did to Rocky and I was absolutely horrible. And I was mad at you for the longest time.” She tried to stiff back a run away tear. “But I have managed to get over my hatred, for my boyfriend and his family, and foremost myself.” She looked directly into the other girl's eyes. “I know that we can't go back in time and change things, but I know we can work on our friendship from here.” She stood up and wrapped her around Laura . “Apology accepted.” But I had to hold back a laugh when Avery whispered into Laura's ear. “But if you ever try to take Rocky away from me again, I won't be so nice. Understood?”
~~~
“What was that?!” I exclaimed as Avery and I walked out of the coffee shop. She sat down at the table outside of the coffee house.
“Let me catch up with myself.” She murmured to herself, resting her head in her hands. I slowly sat down next her.
“You okay?”
She looked up, slowly nodding her head. “Yeah, just seeing Laura for the first time since I've gotten back has brought up some bad memories.”
I awkwardly patted her on the back, not really knowing what to do. I've never had a lot of female friends, and I'll tell you, guys don't usually get mushy. “You wanna talk about it?”
She looked at me with her brown eyes, a sad smile on her face. “Well, it started when I first started hanging out with Rocky. She liked him, but he didn't see it. And when Rock asked me out, she was really jealous.” She wiped a tear from her eye. “Then I started to have some problems with my parents, and Laura used that to her advantage. She blackmailed me to break up with Rocky.”
“No way.” I gasped, that's was low. “What happened?”
“I told Rocky I cheated on him, we broke up, and I was completely miserable.” She was crying at this point. I slid next to her, holding her. “It was horrible watching him with her.” She wiped her eyes again. “Then there was the accident.” Avery explained that a few days before she left for her movie, Rocky was in some accident and the hospital had called her. And while she was there, he was unconscious, but she told her ex boyfriend everything, including Laura blackmailing her.
“So, he called her out in front of everybody?” I slowly started to understand why everybody didn't like this chick. I took a deep breath before asking a question where the possible answer scared me. “And that's why Ross doesn't like her?”
Avery looked at me. “It really hurt him. They were best friends, so hurting his friends and family was heartbreaking.” She turned her face, trying to avoid my eyes. “Especially since he had a huge crush on her.”
