Roxy's point of view
“Roxy, can you come here?” I pulled myself up off the floor, wiping the tears from my green eyes. By the time I got over to my step mom, I pulled my hair back into a low ponytail.
“What's going on” I glanced over to the man standing in the doorway. “Logan, what are you doing here?”
I was confused to see my case worker standing there. Grace took a look at me. “Rox, what's the matter? Why were you crying?”
I shook my head. “We can talk about it later.” She nodded her head and rest her hand on my shoulder.
“We should go talk in the kitchen.” Grace led the three of us into the kitchen where we sat around the large wooden table.
“What's going on?” I was very cautious. “I haven't broken the law in like five months!” I defended myself from my sketchy past.
“And, trust me,” Grace smirked, “Michael and I are very happy about that, but” her smile faded. “This isn't about you getting into trouble.” She looked over to the young man across the table.
He smiled. “Congratulation Roxy, you're getting adopted.” I bunched my eyebrows.
“What?” I turned to my foster mom. “What is he talking about? Who would want to adopt me?” I turned back to Logan. He started to shuffle through manila folders.
“There is a family named the Tisdales and they have been in the process of adopting you for a couple months now.” he stated as if this was the best news in the world. In all reality, my world was shattering. New family, new life. What's gonna happen? Am I gonna have to leave LA, all my friends. Ross?
“What's the family like?” Grace asked as I continued to worry myself sick.
“There's a mom, dad, and--” I cut him off.
“Two kids. Aden and Aria.” I turned to Grace, shaking my head furiously. “I am not going to that family. That's Tiffany's family.”
“Yea, the mom's name is Tiffany!” Logan seriously was the stupidest man ever! “How'd you know?”
I glared at him. “That's the women who gave me away seventeen years ago.” I shook my head, pressing my lips together. “I'm not going with them.”
“Roxy, you should really reconsider this.” My case worker sighed. “You are seventeen years old, and this is the only offer you've had since you were placed in the system.” he read over some file. “And your record isn't helping you; shoplifting, ditching school, smoking, drinking and let's not forget the time you decided to play grand theft auto.” He raised an eyebrow at me.
I rolled my eyes. “I haven't stolen anything in how long? My attendance record is great! I quit smoking, and have actually tried to get my friend to quit. Haven't touched alcohol in months. And it was one time I played gta.”
“Yes, but all these things are on your record, which is accessible to the public!” He pushed, I rolled my eyes and leaned back into the chair.
“I'm not going with Tiffany.” I stated for the last time. I stood up, starting to walk away.
