Roxy's Point of View:
Skateboarding through the streets of downtown LA was always fun, I sarcastically thought to myself as I raced through the streets, trying to get to school on time Monday morning.
I barely made it into the school before the two minute warning bell. I whizzed past kids as I flew on my board. “Hey! Watch where you're going!” Somebody yelled when I went by.
I slid into class with seconds to spare. “Morning boys.”
“Show this morning?” Noah looked at my guitar case that was strapped to my back.
“You know it.” I smiled, taking off the case and setting it on the floor with my board. I reached down and grabbed an envelope from the case. And you will be happy to know that we got paid from Friday night's show.” The boys whooped and cheered as I handed them their money.
We chatted for a few more minutes before Ms. Williams called our attention to the front of the room. “Before you leave today, I have a little announcement,” She held her breath to build up the anticipation, “Prom!”
Everybody cheered, well, almost everybody. I felt paralyzed. I totally forgot about it. My mind wondered back to the day in the park with Ross. My fingers trailed over the charm bracelet as I thought about the way he held me close as we danced.
“Roxy!” All three boys yelled to get my attention. I jumped.
“What!”
“We're trying to talk to you, but you were off in some other world.” Danny laughed at me. I punched him in the arm. “Ow.”
“What were you talking about?” I sighed. Please not -
“Prom, duh.” Connor's smile fell pretty fast. “Guys, I don't have a date.”
Noah rolled his eyes. “You have a new girl every week, I really don't think you'll have a problem getting a date.” Connor smirked, he knew this was true.
“You just need to get a date so we can reserve a table.” Danny was like freaking out. Somebody's a little to excited about this dance.
I started to get my things ready, the bell was about to ring. I looked at my guys with sad eyes. “I'm not going.”
“What! Why not?” Noah exclaimed.
“Ross was going to take me.” I trailed off quietly. The boys begged, but I just wasn't feeling it. “I'm sorry, guys.”
“But it's prom, Rox, you have to go!” Danny said with frustration. I could see how worked up he was getting over this.
“It's junior prom,” I countered. “There's always next year.”
“I have an idea!” Connor clapped his hands together. “Why don't I take you, Rox? You can be my date.” All the guys loved this idea. They looked up at me expectantly.
I bit the bottom of my lip. As I sighed deeply, the boys cheered. Damn, I hate how easily it is for them to convince me to do things. I smacked Connor on the back of his head. “You're so lucky you're my best friend.”
He laughed at me. “I love you too, babe.”
I rolled my eyes. “Whatever.” I grabbed my things off the floor. “I'll see you guys in math.”
They all waved good bye as I walked out of the class room. I was quickly ambushed by Amanda.
“Roxy, can we talk?” She looked like crap. Her normally perfect brunette hair was all out of place, she looks like she hasn't slept for days. But that doesn't change a single thing about anything.
