After a few text messages back and forth from Derek to Meredith, Derek was around the corner from Meredith's house. His mom had surprised him and taken Leighton and Trevor for the day, a nice distraction for them after the heavy conversation at the hospital a few days before. Instead of sitting at home, Derek had texted Meredith and told her that he was alone and to come over. After some hesitation, she had finally agreed to see him as long as he came over to her house. He pulled up in front of her house, smiling as he got out of the car and walked up the pathway, knowing on the clear front door.

"Hey." Meredith said after opening the door to her home. Her burgundy sweater was wrapped around her lavender chamisole.

"Hey yourself." Derek smiled.

"You came."

"Don't sound so surprised." He breathed, stepping into the house, wrapping his arm around her waist and kissing her.

"Oh....not...kind of surprised." She whispered against his lips as she pushed the door shut.

"Mmm..."

"How is Leighton?" Meredith pulled her lips away.

"She's good. My mom is taking them to the Children's Museum."

"That's good." Meredith whispered, pushing her hair behind her ears. She was going crazy and she didn't need to be messing around with Leighton and Trevor's father.

"How are you?"

"Tired...good but tired."

"Long week?"

"Just a lot of after school meetings."

"I didn't get one?" Derek teased.

"You don't have a school board conference coming up." Meredith pulled away.

"Out of town?" He frowned.

"No for some reason they chose a hotel in Seattle this time...so no trips."

"Good." Derek smiled, kissing softly.

"Not good...why are you happy?"

"I shouldn't be happy?"

"It shouldn't matter to you that I'm not going out of town." Meredith stepped back.

"Trevor doesn't do well with substitute teachers." Derek lied. He was glad that she wasn't going out of town.

"Uh huh..."

"I'm serious."

"Right." She smiled, before turning and walking into her kitchen

"Nice house."

"Thanks...or it wasn't always mine or...my mother bought it."

"It's nice." Derek looked around the older style kitchen.

"Yeah?" She faced the sink, rinsing it out.

"Homey."

"Oh."

"Everything okay?" Derek walked up to her, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Yeah." Meredith nodded, looking up and out the window.

"Hmm..." Derek breathed, moving his lips to her neck.

"Trevor got an A on his history paper." Meredith took a deep breath, trying to ignore the feeling he left on her skin. "Yeah I'm going to hand them back next week."
