"Trev....Leighton." Derek grinned as his kids came running towards him in the lobby of the hospital. Meredith had been in the hospital for two days and he hadn't been home since. One of the good things about being Chief was he had everything in his office for overnight stays in the hospital and thanks to a couple of drop offs from Mark, he had everything he needed. After two days, his Mom was finally bringing his kids to the hospital to see him and to let them know what happened. "Hmm...I missed you guys." He smiled, hugging them both.

"Hi Daddy." Leighton breathed.

"Hey Dad." Trevor replied.

"Good to see you." He breathed, pressing kisses on both of their heads, before standing up and smiling at his mom. "Thanks for bringing them."

"Derek...a moment please." His mother pointed a few seats on the other side of the lobby.

Okay." Derek sighed, kissing Leighton and Trevor again. "Sit tight while I talk to Grandma for a few minutes."

"Okay." Trevor nodded, taking his little sister over to the chairs.

"Thanks." He smiled, stepping to the other side with his mom. "Thanks again for bringing them...and for watching them."

"Oh you know that isn't a problem Dear." His mother put her gloves in her coat.

"She's um...she's stable. Pretty beat up." He sighed.

"She's finally sleeping."

"Mark said she was having a tough time."

"Yeah." Derek sighed, taking a seat on one of the waiting room chairs. "She won't talk about it at all."

"Mark said she was doing well the first day as far as talking but that yesterday she started getting quiet."

"Well I'm glad Mark has told you everything." He rolled his eyes.

"Go on dear."

"She's...they're releasing her tomorrow and she needs somewhere to go. She can't go home alone."

"Well Lexie is dating Mark but she loves her sister..."

"I was thinking she would stay with us."

"You want to move her in with you?" His mother asked, looking at her son strangely.

"For the time being...until she's back on her feet." Derek nodded.

"She's Trevor's teacher...you don't think he's going to notice?"

"I'm going to ask him first."

"And what if he isn't okay with the relationship?"

"There's...it's not a relationship." Derek breathed. It was the truth. They weren't anything because all of this had happened, she had ended things.

"Derek the woman is going to be staying with you and I assume while you do have a guest room she isn't going to be sleeping alone if she is having issues..."

"She needs somewhere to go."

"If that's what needs to be done...I trust you. If you think it is a good day then fine...but do not let those children's hearts break one more time."

"I have to do it." Derek breathed, running a hand through his hair. He had bags underneath his eyes from not sleeping and it was obvious by looking at him that he was upset. "I...if it's not okay with them she has other places she can go but I just...I have to do this."
