Trevor Shepherd couldn't believe it. He had worked hard for months and had been waiting for this one day and now it had finally come and he had won. Trevor was going to be student body president for the next school year. Even though his dad had missed his speech and his teacher who had been helping him along the way had to leave, he had won and the first person he needed to tell when he got home from school was her. His mom's friend had picked them up from school after a half day and he had rushed out of the car and into the house, straight up the stairs. "Miss...Meredith! Meredith, where are you?"

"Upstairs!" Meredith shouted, from the upstairs bedroom and then he heard the sound of his little sister interrupting whatever Meredith was doing.

"You're not going to believe this!" Trevor yelled, looking into the guest bedroom that was empty before running into his dad's room. "I won!"

"What?" Meredith looked up from the book she was reading to Leighton. Little Leighton's hands were on the book, as she looked as if she was pointing to something on the page.

"I won! I won!" Trevor rushed in.

"You...Trevor." Meredith smiled, remembering that today was the day the class voted on class president. It had also been the last day before Christmas Break.

"Look!" Trevor dropped his backpack and pulled out a paper that he had been given with the results of the election and handing it to Meredith. "I'm president!"

"Trevor!" Meredith giggled, holding her arms out and open for him. "I'm proud of you. You...I'm really proud Trevor."

"I can't believe I won!" Trevor wrapped his arms around her and hugged her.

"Hey! Me too." Leighton squeezed in, hugging her brother.

"Oh Trevor." Meredith giggled.

"I don't think I would have won without your help." He told her.

"You would have."

"I wish you had been there." He said, his voice still shaking from excitement.

"Me too." Meredith smiled as Leighton stood up on the bed.

"Hey!" Leighton clapped her hands trying to get their attention. "Hey hey!"

"Your brother is...presninent..." Trevor laughed.

"Hey hey!" Leighton bounced, giggling all at the same time.

"Now I can tell you what to do."

"No, but you can be president of your student class." Meredith rolled her eyes as Leighton fell into her lap. "Were your friends excited for you?"

"Yeah...they were telling me all of things they wanted me to do."

"You did a great job." Meredith smiled.

"I want more snack times and more play time!" Leighton chimed in.

"Leighton." Meredith giggled, stroking her hair.

"I'm not doing stupid stuff like that." Trevor rolled his eyes, turning back to Meredith. "Jonathan won vice president so we have to work together."

"You will have to work together to make sure he supports the decisions too."

"Snack time!" Leighton whacked Trevor with a pillow.

"Leighton." Meredith grabbed the little girl's hand, her weaker hand stayed close to her chest even though she was doing so much better now.

"Leighton." Trevor laughed, grabbing a pillow and hitting his sister back.
