(I'm so so sorry, I haven't been posting lately because I'm on vacation right now and we're doing something almost every single day so I haven't got the chance to sit down and write. So, here it is! Sorry for the wait!)
(M/N) scanned through the work he had found on the desk. It wasn't that hard to decode what the underlined words meant. After all the only thing made out of wood in the room was the desk.
Plus, there were less articles sitting on the table than on the floor. Most of them seemed like diary entries, it started off calm saying that his father and Yama were beginning to work on a new project together.
They were both excited to start this experiment, it was to cure all illnesses with the use of a singular pill.
They worked hard day and night, trying out different chemicals. Later on they would go to the bar to celebrate a hardworking day, getting drunk off their minds.
But, as (m/n) read further, his heart beat increased, anticipating what was to come next. It was almost like reading a story, wanting to know more and what it would lead to.
' ENTRY #60
Things aren't going the way me and Hiro(your father) wanted it to go. It started as a solution for the greater future of our people, to cure illnesses big and small. I know Hiro had a hard time with his mother's early death. It hurt me that day to see him breakdown in front of me. I know death is inevitable, but holding onto to your life is precious as well. One day.. I just want to see the happy faces on others knowing their loved ones could still live on even if they were just at the verge of death, and I know Hiro wants that too. Which is why I don't understand why this project of ours has taken such a turn. I knew I should've listened to myself, I always felt paranoid since the very start of our personal research, that something bad were to happen.. and I was right. '
That was the end of the entry, it was left with no conclusion. It seemed like Yama wanted to write more but stopped himself from doing so, almost like he couldn't if he wanted to.
It drove (m/n) in a spiral of confusion, so that was what his father was working on? A pill, a drug to help the sick?
Were they doing it illegally that his father couldn't even tell his own family? A drug... a drug gone wrong?
He was lost in thought until his phone started ringing. He quickly answered the call, placing the entries, and research papers in a empty folder he had found in the room.
"(M/N)! You better come back as quick as possible! Are you done over there?" The frantic voice of Akifumi on the phone made (m/n)'s heart skipped a beat.
Something must've happened. "Yeah, I'll head back now. I'll get back there in a day, would that be okay?" (M/N) rushed out of the house, it sounded urgent he could hear the shouts and whispers in the background.
"Yeah, yeah. Just don't get here late, there's someone that wants to speak with you, and she won't talk to anybody else. I'll explain more when you get here." Akifumi sighed on the other side of the phone.
"Ok, I'll get there as soon as I can boss." (M/N) then ended the call, as he called for an Uber to come pick him up.
- a day later -
(M/N) jumped out of the train. He had slept most of the way back, exhausted with the prior events. As soon as he gathered his stuff out, he walked up to the busy streets of Tokyo.
He called for a Taxi, rushing his way inside of the yellow cab. He told the driver his designation, as they make small talk here and there.
With a small wave and a grateful smile, (m/n) gave the driver a couple dollar of bills.
He then rushed inside the building, many employees were bustling about. "(M/N)! Oh, thank god your here!" Yoi breathed a sigh of relief, rushing over to the taller male.
(M/N)'s eyebrows furrowed in question, "Akifumi told me to head back here right away. What's the problem Ms. Yoi."
The brown-haired lady nibbled the bottom of her lips. She would have to lie. That's what everyone was ordered to do, they didn't want to worry (m/n).
Though they would make sure to protect him secretly. "W-well first of all, the serial killer.. they have been going on a killing spree. It seems like a certain pattern, and many detectives are working on to see what motives the serial killer has based on the clues found in the sites where the victim was murdered, so we can finally put an end to this madness. Second of all.. Mrs. Rina.. was a victim in one of the recent events occurring in this hectic week, she's here with her son who saved her from a crazed druggie. She wants to speak with you specifically, head over to your office and give her some comfort, alright?" Yoi rubbed her hand on (m/n)'s arm to give a sense of comfort.
"Alright. Thank you Ms. Yoi" (m/n) slightly bowed down, as he turned to head to his office.
