The next day, Blaine was woken up by his phone ringing. He groaned softly, looking over at Kurt as he slept beside him. He stood up, grabbing his phone and walking to the living room. "Hello?" He answered.
"Is this Blaine Anderson?" Asked the voice on the other end.
"Yeah, it is. Who's this?"
"It's Derek. I need to talk to my husband." He said firmly.
Blaine's fist immediately clenched at the sound of Derek's voice, and he shook his head. "No way. He told you to keep communication between the lawyers."
Derek sighed. "Come on, I'm in New York. I came here to see him. He's my husband, you can't keep him from me forever. I know where he works."
Blaine swallowed thickly. Derek was in New York. He couldn't let Kurt know— he was already anxious enough with Derek in Ohio. "Let me meet with you." He said. "I'll meet with you and we can talk and I'll give you whatever you want. Just leave Kurt alone. All he wants is a divorce."
Derek thought for a moment before answering. "Fine. Meet me at the coffee shop across from LoveFool in twenty minutes." He said before hanging up.
Blaine let out a deep breath, setting his phone down on the counter. He walked back into the bedroom, throwing on some jeans and a sweater before leaning down and pressing a gentle kiss to Kurt's forehead. "Sweetie? I totally forgot I have to go into the office a couple hours early today." He whispered.
Kurt fluttered his eyes open, looking up at Blaine. "Oh, okay." He said, reaching his hand up to cup Blaine's cheek. "I'll miss you."
Blaine smiled softly, resting their foreheads together. He felt guilty lying, but he had to do everything he could to protect Kurt. "I'll miss you too. I'll see you soon, my love." He said, pressing a kiss to Kurt's lips before getting up and walking away. He went out the front door, his hands in his pockets as he walked through the cold morning air. He let out a shaky breath when he finally arrived at the coffee shop, walking inside and sitting down at a table.
He looked around nervously as he waited for Derek to arrive, tapping his foot. He looked up when he finally heard his name.
"Hi Blaine."
"Hi Derek." He said, watching as he sat down across from him. He had the divorce papers with him. Maybe this is a good sign.
"Look, I'm not gonna pretend to be your friend. You obviously had an affair my husband and now you've convinced him to divorce me." He said, gesturing at the papers. "I only agreed to meet you because I need to talk to Kurt."
Blaine swallowed thickly. "Look, he is absolutely terrified of you." He said. "You hurt him, and he is anxious everyday that you're gonna show up and hurt him again. You've done enough damage, so if you even have an ounce of love for him, which I know you did at one point, you'll sign the papers and leave us alone."
"You give me a hundred thousand dollars, I sign the papers and I leave you alone." He said, crossing his arms.
Blaine raised his eyebrows. "A hundred thousand dollars? You come here looking for money when you physically and mentally abused Kurt for years?"
Derek nodded. "Yes. And you pay for a first class flight for me to get back to Ohio. Then I'll leave. No contact."
Blaine took a deep breath, before nodding. He had to do anything to keep Kurt safe."Fine." He said, grabbing his checkbook out of his bag. "But you never, ever get to see him again. No more phone calls, no texts, nothing. Got it?"
Derek nodded. "Got it." He grinned, watching as Blaine wrote him the check.
Blaine looked down at the check, then back up at Derek. "You go to the aiport right now and get the next flight home. Here." He said, handing it to him along with a pen. "Now sign the papers."
Derek nodded, putting the check in his wallet. He grabbed the pen, signing his name multiple times before handing them over.
Blaine felt a weight lifted off his chest. Once he gave these to his lawyer, Kurt would really be divorced. It was over. "Thank you." He said, standing up. "I hope to never see you again." He breathed, walking outside before practically sprinting down the sidewalk. He had to get home and tell Kurt the news. "Excuse me, sorry, 'scuse me." He breathed as he ran between the crowd, finally arriving at his apartment building. He went inside and got in the elevator, panting when he finally got to his apartment. "Kurt?" He called, walking inside.
Kurt looked up from where he was sitting on the couch. "Oh my god- thank god you're okay." He breathed, standing up.
Blaine frowned. "What?"
"You told me you were going to work, so I got you some breakfast and when I went to the office, you weren't there." He said, walking over to Blaine. "Where the hell have you been? I called you, like, ten times."
Blaine was still out of breath, and he shook his head. He didn't want to tell Kurt that him and Derek actually met in person, but he didn't have much choice. "I was with Derek."
Kurt frowned. "What are you talking about? He's here? In New York?"
Blaine nodded. "Don't worry, he's at the airport now. He's going back to Ohio. You're safe." He said, gently putting a hand on Kurt's shoulder. "He signed the papers."
Kurt brought a hand to his mouth, tears forming in his eyes. "He did?" He asked quietly. "H-How did you get him to do that?"
Blaine bit his lip. "We, um, we made a deal."
Kurt frowned. "What do you mean?"
Blaine took a deep breath. "I gave him a check for a hundred thousand dollars and I bought him a plane ticket home. He agreed to never contact us ever again."
Tears were pooling in Kurt's eyes and he shook his head. "A hundred thousand dollars? Blaine, that's insane, I-"
Blaine cut him off. "It's worth it. It's worth it to keep you safe." He said, looking up into Kurt's eyes. "You'll hever have to see him again, okay? And now we can really be together, absolutely nothing between us."
Kurt nodded, letting out a shaky breath. He was feeling overwhelmed— he couldn't believe that someone cared about him this much, and would throw away that much money just to keep him safe. He looked up at Blaine before throwing himself into his arms, hugging him tightly. "I love you." He cried softly against his shoulder. "I don't know how I can ever repay you."
Blaine hugged him back, holding onto him and burying his face in Kurt's neck. "Move in with me." He whispered, pulling back to look into Kurt's eyes. "Your stuff is still in suitcases and I just- I don't ever want you to leave. I want you here, with me, and to wake up with you everyday. If you get your own place I know we'll just be staying over at each other's apartment every night anyways. I want you to live here."
Kurt bit his lip, nodding as Blaine spoke. He knew that he wasn't even officially divorced yet and everything was fast, but, it felt like they had been waiting an eternity to finally be together. "Of course I'll move in with you." He laughed happily, pressing multiple kisses to Blaine's lips. "I don't want to waste another second not being with you."
Blaine smiled widely, kissing Kurt in return. "I love you so much." He whispered, pecking Kurt's cheek. "Now I just have to get these papers to our lawyers and you'll be officially divorced." He smiled.
Kurt nodded. "Finally."
