"And the king, he thought the step king seemed okay at first, a little soft, maybe, but heck, the queen needed a meal ticket"

"And the king, he thought the step king seemed okay at first, a little soft, maybe, but heck, the queen needed a meal ticket"

Another fuckin story time.

I seriously don't get how Megan and Dylan still haven't figured out yet about dad's crap story about a step king and a 'real' king.

"But the more the king learned about him, the more he doubted the step king's ability to lead" dad continued.

"So the king decided there was only one way to-" dad got interrupted again like last time by Brad. "Hey, good story?" Brad asked.

"Yeah, the king finally came back to his castle" Dylan responded excitedly. "But the evil step king wouldn't give him his crown back" Megan continued for him.

"Oh, okay, I think I've heard this story before" I heard the bed creak, probably Brad sitting down. "Ah, the story is as old as time, Brad" dad chuckled.

"Well, you know what? It turns out the step king wasn't evil at all" Brad told Dylan and Megan.

Oh, shit, it's about to go down.

"He was a really good guy. Fun at parties, great conversationalist, affable. And he saw that the beautiful queen and perfect prince and two princesses were all alone, and he came valiantly to their rescue" Brad explained.

Now Brad was just reminding me that dad left us all alone.

I sighed and laid down comfortably down on my bed, turning my back to my open door.

"Yeah, but wasn't the queen sad because the step king couldn't give her an heir to the throne?" Dylan asked innocently.

"Okay, you know what? Now this is getting personal" Bard said. "Hey, Brad, come on. We're just doing fairy tales here" dad responded.

"All right. Well, the queen wasn't sad, just for the record" Brad stuttered. "The step king was pretty sure she was totally cool with it" Brad told them.

"Yeah, Brad's right. I'm sure the queen was thrilled, right?" Dad told them.

"Can you guys shut the fuck up or just tell them a normal story?!" I shouted from my room. "Sorry, sweetie!" Dad yelled back as they ended telling the story without an actual end.

Dad was annoyed all week as Brad kept doing all kinds of activities and volunteering to make dad jealous. And oh, was it working.

It was a pro for Brad as dad was slowly getting jealous, but a big con for me as dad kept trying to hang out with me every second of the day.

No matter how many times I told him no, he kept asking and asking and trying to recreate old memories with me.

So when I came home from school, I was surprised when I saw a big skatepark on our backyard.
