"I'll just stay away from them from now on!" Dylan tried telling dad. We were still in the garage, trying to teach Dylan how to fight.

"Mom?" Dylan asked with tears in his eyes. "Okay, come here, buddy" mom ushered Dylan over. Dylan ran over to mom who hugged him.

"Brad" dad whispered to him. Dad pointed with his head over to Dylan. "Hey, wait" Brad stopped Dylan and mom from going back in the house.

"Pal, listen.." Brad began. "I know what it's like to be afraid to go to school. When I was your age, this group of older kids started picking on me" Brad explained.

"Surprise, surprise" I whispered to Dylan, lightly pinched my side, trying to shut me up. Dad looked at the both of us skeptically, before turning his attention back at Brad.

"I ran and I cried underneath the bleachers. They bothered me every day, because they knew I was too afraid to face them. Until one day, I'd had enough. And I socked Jesse Hubbard right in the nose" he explained.

"Oh, shit, I didn't expect that" I furrowed my eyebrows at him. "Really? And they left you alone?" Dylan asked with a light smile on his face.

"Damn right they did" Brad answered. Dylan nodded his head and went over to dad. "Come here, buddy. Hey, I'm proud of you! All right?" Dad told Dylan.

"Now, look at me. I want you to punch them right in the Adam's apple. Okay?" Dad instructed.

It reminded me of how dad first taught me how to fight. One girl pushed me on the ground once and after school, I went to tell mom and dad. That same afternoon, in the same garage we're now in, he taught me how to fight.

"Hold on, hold on" Brad interrupted dad. "I'm sorry, look, I'm having a pane of guilt right now" Brad told dad and Dylan as he walked over to them.

"Full disclosure. Some of the elements of my story weren't exactly true" Brad confessed. "The incessant crying, a hundred percent true" Brad sighed.

"I knew it!" I exclaimed while everyone began looking at Brad in disbelief. "The constant bullying, absolutely, it all happened.." Brad confessed.

"I've never punched anyone in my life" Brad sighed. "I could have told you that" Griff said from where he was drawing with Megan.

"Then what did you do?" Dylan asked confused up at Brad. "Yeah, what did you do?" Dad asked annoyed.

"Well, nothing at all. In fact, sixth grade was so rough, I changed my name to Devin Lacecock" brad confessed.

"Devin Lacecock?" I asked laughing at him. "What the fuck?" I wheezed while still laughing at him. "Why the hell would you tell him that?" Dad asked fed up.

"I pretended to be blind for an entire school year, just to elicit empathy" Brad responded shamefully. "This story keeps getting better and better" I chuckled as I wiped a laughing tear of my face.
