"And that's why we have to find Atlantis, now!"
You've just finished explaining everything you overheard to your crew after you and Edward woke them all up. You continue on,
"Look everyone; I know it's late right now and it's risky, but we-"
All of a sudden Charlie cuts you off by raising her hand up.
"Say no more, love. We got this. We don't back down if one of our own is in trouble."
The rest of the crew gives a dedicated nod. You notice that Charlie's green eyes are filled with fear, determination, and another emotion that you can't quite place. You're brought out of your reverie by Edward shouting out orders to prepare to set sail.
"Ax and Ada, go up to the yardarm and prepare the sails!"
You watch as the twins gracefully climb the riggings. Maggie soon follows to take over the lookout post in the crow's nest. You immediately turn to Jonas and Ginny and have them get the ammunition in order; Jonas also checks your pistol and refills it with gunpowder. You tell Henry to double check the supplies before turning to Kendrick.
"Kendrick! I need you to grab the maps and the spare compass and find us the quickest and safest route to the northern islands."
Sunset and Robert's parrot emerge from underneath the stairs, where they had been sleeping. Sunset gives you a squawk of annoyance from being woken up by the commotion.
"Sorry guys! But we got to move. Please continue to be good. You can sleep more once we've left."
You approach Edward and Charlie who are finishing up the last of the tasks. Edward, sensing your nerves, wraps his arms around you and gives you a reassuring hug.
"Everything is going to be fine, Coral. I promise. Please don't worry; the stress won't be good for you or the baby."
"You're right we can do this. I mean, all we have to do is save Oliver, find a magical island inhabited by mythical beings, break a curse that apparently we need Robert's help with, and who the hell knows where he's at, and then... oh yeah, I got to give birth in thirty weeks with no modern medicine, and...
You're cut off as Edward gives you a gentle kiss.
"I thought I told you not to worry. The ruby indicated that Atlantis was the best place to start looking for Robert. Maybe you just need to trust in the clues that your ancestor left behind a little more. Everything we need to accomplish and everyone we need to find, all traces back to Atlantis."
You take deep, relaxing breaths to try to recover from your momentary panic.
"How are you staying so calm?"
He gently takes your hand, threading his fingers through yours.
"I love you and our child and that's my focus; getting us our happy life together."
"That sounds nice. I keep picturing it, and I can't wait for that day."
Edward drops a kiss to the top of your head.
"Trust me, Coral, it'll all work out, so stop worrying."
Edward walks away to do one last sweep of the ship before you leave port. You turn back to Charlie and see her glancing at the ring on your left hand.
"I knew you'd love it."
You give her a smile.
"At least now I know why you were being so secretive. But also, thank you. I know you had a hand in making this happen."
"Edward wanted to propose and knew how he wanted the ring to look; I just helped finalize everything. It's nice to see the love you two share. You both deserve nothing but happiness. When all this is over I promise we'll celebrate properly, like a crew should."
You notice she has a distant look as she says this, and you know she's worrying about Oliver. You put a hand on her shoulder.
"Just so you know, Charlie, you deserve that kind of happiness too."
She gives you a small smile right as Edward returns.
"We're all set. Who's starting off as navigator?"
You don't even hesitate as you step up to the wheel.
"I am. Atlantis here we come!"
You know the Damnation is fast. You just have to hope that it's faster than the Intrepid.
