Robert's Point Of View
"And that eventually started the decline of the Golden Age of Piracy."
Your students quickly scribble the rest of their notes before you continue. You never thought you'd follow in your father's footsteps and be a professor; especially after wanting a life of adventure. But you must admit, you actually enjoy it, and Julivert University is a prestigious school. It's an honor to be teaching here.
"Now, this seems like a good place to leave off before the fall break. We'll continue this when we return. Keep up with your reading and don't forget about your term papers due at the end of the semester; it'll be here before you know it."
The lecture hall slowly disperses as the class shuffles out. That was your last one for the day. You're packing your briefcase when one of your students approaches your desk.
"Excuse me? Professor Valdez?"
You look up with a smile when you see Daisy Hawthorne; one of your most promising students. She's a history major and your class was one of the last ones she needed in order to graduate next year. She's also incredibly humble and never lets the fact that she's a princess try to influence her grades.
"What can I do for you, Daisy?"
She looks nervous, but she pushes through and asks,
"I was wondering if the Monday after we come back from fall break if I could have an excused absence as well as a copy of the notes? You see, Clarke and I are flying to Ismar to pick up some wedding unity pieces from his parents and our return flight won't be in till 11:00 that night; I tried to get something earlier, but that was all that was available."
Ever since you returned to this time period, you've felt yourself changing for the better. You're not after power, or wealth, or fame. You actually just want to enjoy life and make a difference. Now you know how your father felt when he spent his time passing on his knowledge to future generations.
"Of course, Daisy. I'll email you the notes so you won't miss anything."
She beams at you.
"Thank you, Professor. Oh, and I really enjoyed the lesson today."
There's a knock on your door and another young girl who looks very similar to Daisy, enters the now empty lecture hall. It's Daisy's sister, Princess Rose. You've never officially met, but of course you've heard about her.
"Daisy! Come on! Dad's presenting Devin's award on his article about the History of Monterre's Charity Foundation, in an hour, and I refuse to be a crap girlfriend that shows up late!"
Daisy shoots you an apologetic look.
"Professor, this is my sister, Rose."
Rose starts pulling Daisy towards the exit.
"Nice to meet you. I promise I'll take your class next semester."
You let out a hearty laugh.
"Have a good break, Daisy. Nice meeting you, Rose."
After you're packed up, you decide to head to the professor's lounge for an afternoon coffee break. Once you enter, Katrina Harrington, the economics professor, waves you over to her group by the coffee table.
"Robert, how was your last class before break?"
"Pretty good. How was yours?"
"It was fine, but I could tell the students were ready for the week off, and honestly so am I."
