"Great job, son!"
You take a minute to look up from playing with your daughter, Magdalena, as Edward practices sword fighting with Thomas. Your heart has never felt so full. You card a hand through your daughter's strawberry blond hair, and she looks up at you with bright piercing blue eyes; perfect sapphires just like Edward's.
"Mama, when can I start sword fighting?"
You chuckle.
"When your eight, Magdalena. You still have three years to go."
She pouts momentarily, but it quickly ends when another young girl with curly blond hair, tan skin, and shiny green eyes, runs over to join you on the deck.
You're grateful that Francesca was born only a few months before Magdalena; the two of them became best friends. Oliver strides over, trying to catch up to his daughter.
"Apologies, Coral. We just woke up from our nap and we're full of energy again."
You snicker as the two girls start playing together.
"It's fine, Oliver. At least you can get Francesca to nap. Magdalena won't nap to save her life. I love my children but they can be exhausting."
"So I take it you and Edward are done having them?"
"Oh yeah! Two is perfect."
As the girls start to move farther down the deck, you quickly shout towards them,
"Stay in our sight line. We don't need you going overboard or messing with Jonas' gunpowder."
Edward and Thomas take a break from sword fighting to get some water. Edward pulls you in for a kiss as you hand him back his jacket.
"He's doing great darling. You might have some competition soon."
Edward laughs as Thomas starts to give you a play by play of his battle.
"Mama, did you see how good I'm getting? I was like, "block," but I didn't really block and instead I parried, and it was a surprise. I'm gonna beat Papa one of these days."
You kneel down to pull your son into your arms properly.
"I know you will, baby. Now go to your room and get washed up for dinner. Henry is letting Ginny pick out the desert tonight and she asked me if you would like to help her."
Thomas hurries off, almost bumping into Maggie who is carrying some maps in her hands.
"Sorry, Maggie!"
"Yer fine, lad."
Maggie hands you the maps.
"Here you go, Captain. We've updated our maps. Kendrick and I double checked these last night."
You pause before you look at Maggie questionably,
"You said you went to bed early last night. You were with Kendrick?"
Maggie's mouth falls open as she realizes what she just alluded to, but you smile and whisper to her,
"It's about time."
