By late morning, Lieutenant Hank Anderson accompanied by his teammate Angie Callahan and an android named Connor, followed a new lead in his investigation of deviant androids.
The snow had fallen much of the night and covered the city with a pristine shroud. The dark walls of an architect's house in front of which they had stopped stood out particularly against the backdrop of the snowy landscape, it gave off a slightly disturbing atmosphere.
After parking the car, Hank was out and headed for the entrance, but he stopped to answer his phone when it rang. Angie had followed him and she stopped beside him to wait for him; she noticed that Connor had remained in the car, in the passenger seat. His eyes were closed, he had to send a report to Cyberlife, as he often did. She knocked on the window to warn him, he opened his eyes and got out of the car when he saw that the young woman was waiting for him. At the same time, Hank hung up, looking worried.
- Is everything alright? Angie asked.
- Chris was on patrol last night. He was attacked by a bunch of deviants... He said he was saved by Markus himself...
- Is Chris ok? Connor inquired.
- Yeah, he's in shock but...he's alive...
Hank sighed, creating a cloud of vapor in the freezing air.
- What the hell! He swore.
The information seemed to disturb him, he was worried about Chris, but at the same time this event, as well as the way in which the intrusion into the Stratford Tower had been carried out, showed that perhaps this new revolution wich began could be done without loss of life. The leader of the deviants, Markus, seemed to have strong ideas on how to conduct this revolt peacefully. Angie hoped it would continue like this.
They took the direction of the house, quietly, so as not to slip on the fresh snow, taking a steel footbridge that led to the entrance. Connor used this time to question Hank about the purpose of their visit.
- Kamski left CyberLife ten years ago... Why did you wanna meet him?
- This guy created the first android to pass the Turing test. And he's the founder of CyberLife. Anybody can tell us about deviants, it's him...
It made sense. And above all, they didn't really have another lead to find Jericho. They came to the door, sunk under an arch of dark stones.
"Impressive house!" Angie thought.
Hank rang the doorbell. After a few seconds of waiting, a young blonde woman in a blue dress opened the door for them. They introduced themselves and she let them in. As she walked past her, Angie noticed that she was in fact an android, very pretty indeed, with her long blond hair pulled back over her shoulder, her blue eyes and her mischievous face.
- I'll let Elijah know you're here. But please, make yourself comfortable, she told them in a soft voice before disappearing through a door at the back of the room.
The room was, like the house, minimalist in style, with dark walls, a few sculptures and modern paintings and two large dark red armchairs separated by a Japanese maple with purple leaves. Hank took a seat on one of them.
- Nice girl ... he commented.
- An RT600, explained Connor, the first Cyberlife android to pass the Turing test.
This test consisted of a blind verbal conversation between an artificial intelligence and a human. If he thought he was dealing with another human the test was passed.
- I didn't ask for her technical specs... retorted Hank. I just said she was nice...
- Nice place too ... said Angie to cut it short, approaching a huge painting representing the master of the place. Androids seem to be a lucrative business...
