Rainy days
Are the best
Especially
When you wake up
And you just
Know
How the day will go
The morning starts
Dark
Like the sun doesn't to wake up
And by afternoon
It's raining
Maybe not gushing
Like the floodwaters are coming to drown us
But still heavy
It always starts out with some sprinkling
And continues to rise until it's a downpour
It's the kind where you laugh with the clerk at the store
When you realise you won't be going to your car anytime soon
Because you forgot your umbrella
It's the kind
When after it's over
Or when it lightens up
Little girls go out
Wearing their bumblebee rain boots
And purple rain coat
To go collect the worms
And put them back in the dirt
Because they don't even want to
Imagine
Those poor worms shrivelling up
When the sun
Returns
It's the kind of rainy afternoons
That by evening
A double rainbow
Shines over your backyard
And you stand out in a puddle
To take a picture
But it never quiet captures the beauty
It's always faded
But it's something to bring up to your friend
"Did you see
"The rainbow
"That rainy Tuesday?"
