I watch as Kid works to break down another of the gigantic blocks. I take my time with the single block that I've been working on for a while. It's not that I need much food to live anyways and If get too hungry, Kid will give me a portion of his food anyways. I pick at the prison clothes I'd been provided. It's a lot more oriental than the ones I'd been wearing previously. Colorless, plain, and more than anything, short. The chains are heavy against my wrists and ankles but, they don't bother me much, as if my body still remember those days so long ago when the chains were a part of me. They feel as if they have always been there. The only thing that missing is my strength. Unlike Kid, I have no strength because of the chains that bind my powers. Not only am I unable to use my powers, it feels as if a part of me is gone. My tree powers, as Kid likes to call them, had been a part of me, and now, I feel the gigantic hole that if left in it's place.
I can a ruckus as the gate open to let in more prisoners. Kid and I are escorted back into an isolation cell as the new prisoner is escorted into the prison work camp.
I instantly jump up when I see him. It's definitely him. Even with the anger in his eyes and his face mostly covers, I know my brother when I see him. I pull myself against the bars to get a closer look.
" LUFFY!" I call out to him but he doesn't seem to notice me at all. He's pretty beat up but it doesn't look like his spirit is beaten. I call out to him again and he finally looks my way.
" He starts fighting against the guards who have a hold on him but I wave my hand at him.
"I'll see you later!" I give him my best smile and I hear my captain laughing, making fun of me from further in our cell.
" I heard he attacked Kaido. Can't tell if he's got guts or if he's an actual idiot." He makes his way beside me to watch the guards throw my brother in his cell.
" he's probably a little bit of both but luckily, he's strong enough to survive and get the job done." We're finally let out to resume our work on the stones I slowly make my way to where they've confined my brother and wave from my side of the bars.
" Looks like you've been caught like us." I hold up my chains and give him a sort of laugh. He looks tired. I make my way to the side of his cell where the bars meet the wall, hidden from the view of all the rest of the guards.
As I plop myself down, I reach through the bars patting the floor where I would be able to reach him.
" Come here." He silently does as he's told and he leans against the bars as I run my hand through his hair, just as I have done a million and one times.
" Everything will be alright. Even if today was bad, the sun will set and rise again. Without fail, tomorrow will come and we'll start again."
" I know nee-chan." and just like that, he falls asleep and I can only hope, that he will be alright.
In his sleep, he whimpers and he grasps for something. Even as everyone is herded into their cells for the night, I can hear him from our cell. His thrashing and screaming. I can hear other prisoners yelling for him to shut up, to settle down. He used to sleep so well when he was younger. I can only assume he's picked up this sleep behavior while he sailed, and when I hear his name, Ace, I know what these dreams are about. Losing your family, your friends, he must be dreaming about not being strong enough.
I feel Kid griping my hand, silently comforting me. He is silent. You'd think that he's laugh, comment on him being weak, make fun of him but his eyes are closed, silently gripping my hand as if to anchor me to his side, as if he knows that If i could, I'd run to my brother's side.
" Lady." He opens one eye, peering at me through the darkness. "Sing for me."
"Where I live, there are rainbows
Where life in the laughter of morning, and starry nights."
I feel his head drop in my lap like a child and unknown to me, the moaning and groaning men cease.
"Where I live there are rainbows and flowers full of colors
And birds filled with songI can smile when its raining
And touch the warmth of the sun
I hear children laughing in this place that I love"
Slowly, I notice that Luffy's whimpering quiets the only sounds that accompany my voice is the whistling of wind.
"Where I live, there are rainbows
With life in the laughter of morning and starry nights,"I brush my hand through the bright red hair of my captain, as i would my brother and to my side, I can almost feel the presence of Killer. I can almost feel his touch, his shoulder brushing mine. I can almost feel the warmth Ace and even hear Sabo's voice slowly joining in on my song.
I can almost see it now.
Welcoming the crew back after a long battle. Kissing Killer so passionately and hugging Kid as if we'd never been apart. Hearing the crew laughing and partying, celebrating another successful battle.
"Where I live, There are rainbows and flowers full of colors
And birds filled with songI can smile when its raining
And touch the warmth of the sun,
I hear children laughing in this place that i love,
In the place that i love."
We'll definitely get back there, the place I love. Back to our ship, back to the crew.
