They soon left the police station and once again drove away in silence. As they reached the palace, Veer felt more and more stressed. He was driving closer to a ticking time bomb. Ranisa would freak out and everyone would come to know what Veer has been up to.
Soon, they reached the palace and Rani went into the kitchen to see if everything was cleaned up and if the preparations were ready for breakfast in the morning. Veer walked up the stairs and knocked on Ranisa's bedroom door.
Ranisa: "Come in."
Veer: "Ranisa, mujhe aap se akele mein baat karne ki thi. Kya main abhi baat kar sakta hoon? Thoda sa urgent hai."
(Ranisa, I would like to speak with you privately. Can we talk now? It's a little urgent.)
Ranisa: "Digvijay, aap kya bahar jaa sakte ho. Hume baat karne ki hai."
(Digvijay, can you go out. We need to talk.)
He nodded and walked out of the room leaving Veer and Rajeshwari alone. Veer's hands were shaking, he was way too nervous to break this news with his mother.
Rajeshwari: "Veer, kya hai?"
(Veer what is it?)
Veer: "Uh, Ranisa, divorce, uh..."
Rajeshwari: "Veer, baat sedhi tara se karo. Mujhe tumhari bate samaj mein hai aa rahi hai"
(Veer, speak properly. I can't understand anything that you are saying.)
Veer: "Ranisa, main Rani se divorce nahi kar sakta hoon."
Ranisa looked at him with extreme shock.
Rajeshwari: "What nonsense is this Veer!?!?"
Veer: "Ranisa, hume Rani ko ek chance dena chahiye. Agar mein unke saath talak leta hoon, phir unki bahut bezati hoengi unke gao mein."
(Ranisa, we should at least give Rani one chance. If I divorce her, then she will become very humiliated in her village.)
Rajeshwari: "Nahi Veer. Tum ek naukar ki beti ki vajah se meri baat nahi maan rahe ho. Get out! Right now! Mujhe tumhara chehra nahi dekhna hai!"
(No Veer. Because of a servant's daughter, you are not listening to what I am saying. Get out! Right now! I don't want to see your face!)
Rajeshwari pointed her finger towards the door and Veer slowly walked out trying to hide his tears, but as soon as he reached his bedroom, he fell on the floor crying in shame.
----
Rani had finished all her work in the kitchen and it was night again. This meant she had to find someplace to sleep. She couldn't go to Dakter Saab's room and if she slept on the floor, Dakter Saab would probably take her to the guest room.
Rani: "Ab mein kya karu?"
(Now what do I do?)
Then, Rani saw Kumud coming into the kitchen. She seemed in a rush and she looked very worried.
Rani: "Kumud masi, aap itni pareshan kyu ho? Kaa hua?"
(Kumud aunty, why are you stressed? What happened?)
Kumud: "Arey Rani main kaam karne mein bhul gayi ke Kunwarsa ka Chai ka time ho gaya hai. Main bahut late ho gayi hoon."
(Oh Rani, I got so busy doing work that I forgot it was time for Prince Veer to have tea. I have gotten very late now.)
Rani: "Kumud masi main aapki madat karungi. Fikar mat karna."
(Kumud aunty, I will help you. Don't worry.)
Quickly Rani prepared to make the tea and Kumud completed all her cleaning. Rani was informed that some other servants had taken their breaks, so they had a shortage, so Kumud had a lot of stress on herself.
Kumud had picked up the tray and went to take it up, but then Rani stopped her.
Rani: "Uh, Kumud masi, woh mein kya keh rahi hoon, ke mein yeh tray leti hoon na, aap kyu kar rahe ho?"
(Uh, Kumud aunty, what I'm saying is that, uh I will take the tray upstairs, why do you have to do it?)
Kumud smiled at Rani's innocence. She understood that Rani wanted to meet Veer, so she just nodded and let Rani go up.
Kumud didn't know that Rani wanted to meet Veer because she was really happy. Rani wanted to properly thank Veer for meeting her father and for agreeing with him. In the past couple of weeks, Veer has done a lot for Rani and she believed that it was the perfect time to go and speak with him.
Rani happily walked up the stairs, but when she walked into the room and saw Veer broken down on the floor, she was in complete shock.
Rani: "Dakter Saab?! Aap theek ho? Ee sab kya hua?"
(Dakter Saab?! Are you alright? What happened to you?)
Rani put the tray on the side table and rushed to Veer. She knelt and held onto his hand. He wouldn't stop crying and Rani didn't know what to do! She tightly squeezed his hands and told him that she was there for him. She wiped away his tears and tried to calm him down.
Rani: "Dakter Saab, please mere saath baat karo. Aap ko kya hua hai?"
(Dakter Saab, please talk to me. What has happened to you?)
Veer took some deep breaths and held onto Rani's hands too. He wiped his face and looked at Rani.
Veer: "Rani, main bahut sorry hoon. Maine Ranisa se vada kiya tha ke mein aapse divorce loonga, lekin aaj Ramu Kaka ke bate sun kar maine faisla kiya ke main divorce nahi karunga. Ye shaadi aapki marzi se nahi hui thi. To phir aap kyu saza longi? Jab main Ranisa se baat kiya, woh mere saath bahut gussa ho gayi. Mein hamesha aise karta hoon! Mein kabhi Ranisa ko khush nahi rakhta hoon..."
(Rani, I am really sorry. I had promised Ranisa that I would divorce you, but then I heard everything that Ramu Uncle said and I changed my decision: I wouldn't do this divorce. This marriage wasn't done with your consent, so why should you have to face the consequences? When I spoke with Ranisa, she got really mad at me. I always do this! I can never keep Ranisa happy....)
Veer started crying again. Rani had no clue how to reply. Dakter Saab was so thoughtful about her reputation that he kept hurting his own relationship with his mother! Out of instinct, Rani quickly hugged Veer and he also held onto her. He cried into her shoulder and she started crying too.
Rani: "Dakter Saab, aap fikar mat karna. Sab theek ho jayega."
(Dakter Saab, please don't worry. Everything will be alright.)
They sat together in silence for quite a while. It had been almost an hour since Veer spoke with Rajeshwari and thanks to Rani, he was feeling much better and calmer now. Then, Vikram rushed into the room and Rani and Veer let go of each other in embarrassment.
Veer: "Uh, uh Vikram kya hua? Aap bahut pareshan lag rahe ho."
(Uh, uh, Vikram what happened? You look very stressed.)
Vikram: "Bro, woh itni der raat mein Mom ghar main nahi hain. Unka phone bhi nahi la raha hai. Hum sab bahut pareshan ho gaye hai."
(Bro, uh at such late-night Mom isn't home. Her phone isn't reachable either. We have all become very stressed.)
Rani and Veer both stood up and at the same time they said:
"Kya?!"
(What?!)
