RanVeer: Will Fate Bring Them Together?

Chapter 22

Recap: Rani's true identity came out and she celebrated her birthday and anniversary with Veer, who has accepted her as a strong, independent lady. Rani got a phone call from Ranisa which is very strange since Ranisa never calls her.

Rani looked at Veer. He told her to pick it up and she answered. She put the phone up to her ear and said "Khambaghani Ranisa" (Hello, Your Majesty.)

Veer motioned her to put it on speaker. They both thought she may have actually wanted to wish them on their special day. She put the phone on speaker and waited for Ranisa's response.

Rajeshwari: "Haan, theek hai. Abhi meri baat suno. Kya tu akeli hai?"

(Ya, alright. Now listen to me. Are you alone?)

Rani looked at Veer, she decided to walk out of the room, but he grabbed her hand and shook his head saying no. He had a bad feeling and he wanted to know the truth.

Rani didn't leave the room but told Ranisa that she was all alone.

Ranisa: "Kaise chal rahi hai teri ye trip, huh? Maza aa rahi hai? Of course, aayengi. Yeh saari cheeze toh tu sapne mein bhi nahi sooch sakti hai, na?"

(How is your trip going, huh? Are you having fun? Of course, you are. You can't even imagine all this in your dreams, right?)

Rani: "Uh, Ranisa, aap kya bhol rahe ho?"

(Uh, Ranisa, what are you saying?)

Ranisa: "Rani, tujhe apni aukhad mein rehni hai. Tu ek naukar ki beti hai, aur ek naukar ki beti rehengi. Yeh cruise aur hotel...Canada teri jaisi bekar ladki hi jaga nahi hai."

(Rani, you need to stay within your limits. You are a servant's daughter, and you will always stay as one. This cruise and hotel....Canada isn't a place for a useless girl like you.)

Rani started quietly crying and Veer was in absolute shock. He never knew Ranisa would treat her like that, with so much disrespect and rudeness. Rajeshwari didn't stop her talking, she kept going.

Ranisa: "Ab toh tu maza le, lekin jab tu wapas aayengi, Kiara meri bahurani banegi. Kuch bhi karke main tujhe iss ghar se nikal kar rahoongi."

(For now, you enjoy all of it, but when you come back, Kiara will be my daughter-in-law. I will do everything to make sure that you will be gone from this house forever.)

She cut the phone leaving both Veer and Rani in shock.

Rani felt extremely embarrassed. She never wanted Veer to know how his mother treated her. She didn't want any of this to happen and especially with him listening. For Veer, he was even more embarrassed. He didn't know that his mother go to such an extent to torture his wife. Within that call that was less than 5 minutes, he caused her pain that would last for the next 500 minutes. Rani didn't deserve any of this pain towards her. She was so successful and not actually an illiterate girl.

Rani let go of Veer's hand and lay down on her side of the bed. She decided that they would speak in the morning, she really needed a break. Veer understood her message and lay down next to her. There was about 20 minutes of silence before Veer spoke up.

Veer: "Rani, kuch bhi bolne se pehle, meri baat suno."

(Rani, before saying anything, hear me out.)

She just nodded and he continued.

Veer: "Ranisa ko aap se aisi baat nahi karni thi. Main unki taraf se maafi mangta hoon."

(Ranisa shouldn't have spoken with you in that way. I apologize on her behalf.)

Rani: "Nahi Dakter Saab, aap maafi mat mangna-"

(No Dakter Saab, you don't apologize-)

He cut her off by putting his finger on her lips.

Veer: "Shhhh. Pehle meri baat suno."

(Shhhh. First, listen to me.)

She nodded as he continued.

Veer: "Mere paas ek plan ha-"

(I have a plan-)

Rani: "Arey wah Dakter Saab, aap ke paas plan? Aapka khadoos dhimak mein?"

(Oh wow Dakter Saab, you have a plan? In your arrogant mind?)

Veer: "Rani! Chup. Aap ki yeh bhak bhak ruk nahi sakti hai. Plan toh pehle suno na."

(Rani! Quiet. Your talking doesn't stop. Just listen to the plan first.)

She became silent after remembering Dakter Saab's anger.

Veer: "Haan. Toh mein kya bhol ra tha? Plan. Theek hai. Main soch raha tha ke abhi sab chah rahe hai ki aap maa ban jao jaldi, na. Toh hum ek chota sa natak kar sakte hai ki aap pregnant ho. Phir toh Ranisa aap ko ghar se nikal na sakengi. Lekin, uss time mein hume aap ka sach bol dena parenga. Phir toh sab aap ko accept karlenge aur aap ko khidhar nahi jaana parenga aur woh Kiara bhi wapas nahi aayengi. Aap khali bolo, kya aap ko manzor hai?"

(Yes. So what was I saying? Plan. Alright. I was thinking that everyone wants you to become a mom soon, right. So, we can do a small act where we pretend you are pregnant. Then Ranisa won't be able to kick you out of the house. But, during that time, we will have to tell everyone your truth. Then everyone will accept you and you won't have to go anywhere. This way, Kiara won't come back either. Now it's up to you, do you agree?)

Rani had to really think about this. On one hand, the plan was smart and she wouldn't have to leave this wonderful place. But on the other hand, she would have to tell her truth to the whole family. It wasn't bad, but she knew that they would treat her very differently. Who knows, they may even get mad at her for lying all this while to them. The decision was tough, but she knew that she would pick her Dakter Saab over anything, even if it meant telling everyone about her horrible past.

Rani: "Ji Dakter Saab, mujhe manzoor hai."

(Yes Dakter Saab, I agree.)
