Later at night, Veer came back home from work. Dadisa was quite worried, Veer should've come home about 2 hours ago.
Dadisa: ""Veer, aap kahan the? Kitni der ho gayi hai! Hum bahut pareshan ho gaye the."
(Veer, where were you? It's so late! I was very worried about you.)
Veer: "Sorry Dadisa, woh ek urgent surgery aa gayi thi. Lekin derr kis ke liye?"
(Sorry Dadisa, there was an urgent surgery that's why. But, what am I late for?)
Veer had just lied to his grandmother. In fact, Veer was late because he had to go to the lawyer to make all the necessary papers and documents ready. It was late because he had to go back to the temple to get their marriage certificate.
Dadisa: "Theek hai. Abhi aap aur Rani ko Ramadeer se milne ke liye jaana hai. Aap ko apne Sasur se aashirvaad lena hai. Aur sab batana bhi hai. Jao, Rani baar aap ka intezaar kar rahi hai."
(It's alright. Now you and Rani have to go and meet Ramadeer. You need to get blessings from your father-in-law. And tell him everything: why and how this all happened. Go, Rani is waiting for you outside.)
Veer had to agree to her, he could never deny Dadisa's word. Veer was stressed because he didn't know how he could confront Rani or even look Ramadeer in the eye.
Veer walked out of the palace, but he didn't see Rani anywhere.
Veer: "Ab yeh ladki kahan chali gayi?!?!"
(Now, where did this girl go!??!)
Veer was getting frustrated. Dadisa just said that she was waiting outside!
Just then, a rickshaw drove into the palace driveway. Veer was confused. No visitors ever came in a rickshaw, rather a fancy car. Then, Veer heard someone scream at him, it was Rani's voice!
Rani: "Arey Dakter Saab! Chaliye! Der ho rahi hai!"
(Hey Dakter Saab! Let's go! It's getting late!)
Veer was super pissed. How dare she think that they would travel in a rickshaw?
Veer: "Rani ye kya bakwas kar rahi ho aap? Bahar nikhlo. Thank you bhaisaab, aap ja sakte ho."
(Rani what nonsense is this? Come out. Thank you brother, you can go.)
Rani didn't understand, what was so wrong with going in the rickshaw?
Rani: "Dakter Saab, aisa kyu kiye aap? Pata hai kitni der ke baad ek rickshaw mili mujhe!"
(Dakter Saab, why did you do that? Do you know how long it took me to get a rickshaw?)
Veer was so annoyed. What did Rani think of herself? The Prince would travel in a rickshaw?
Veer: "Excuse me. I am a doctor, mujhe gadi chalana aata hai. Mein koi rickshaw main nahi jaata hoon."
(Excuse me. I am a doctor, I know how to drive a car. I don't travel in any rickshaw.)
Rani realized and then she sat on the floor with her hand to her forehead.
Rani: "Arey, main kitni budbak hoon! Aap itne bade ghar ke Kunwar ho, main bhi kya soch rahi thi!"
(Oh no, I am so silly! You are such a big Prince, what was I even thinking!?)
Veer: "Haan, haan. Theek hai, abhi chalo, Ramu kaka se milna hai."
(Yes, yes. Alright, now let's go. We have to go meet Ramu Uncle.)
They both sat in the car and Veer drove to the police station in silence.
----
Rani: "Bauji!"
(Dad!)
Rani screamed as she ran into the police station. She ran right towards his cell and Veer motioned a constable to open it for them.
She walked in and tightly hugged her dad. It felt like ages, but in reality, it had been so many years since she and her father had hugged. They haven't even met in the past years, this was so needed for the both of them.
Ramadeer let go of his daughter as he noticed the sindoor on her forehead and the mangalsutra around her neck. He was in shock.
Ramadeer: "Rani bitiya, ye kya? Tumhara byah hua hai?"
(Rani, what is this? Have you gotten married?)
Rani stepped back and sobbed a bit.
Rani: "Ji bauji, iss liye main aayi, mujhe aap se sab batana hai."
(Yes dad, this is why I came here, I want to tell you everything.)
Bit by bit Rani started explaining. The phone call from Jai, getting locked in the room, Veer walking in, the priests getting mad. Then the rocks and blood and finally the marriage.
Ramadeer thanked Veer for saving his daughter's life and he requested one thing from him. Rani has had only one dream her whole life which is to become an engineer. He just asked Veer to make sure that no matter what, Rani would complete her education and become very successful. Veer agreed, but Rani looked away in shame.
Rani (in her mind): "Bhauji ko nahi pata hai, main sach kaise bhulu?"
(Dad doesn't know, how do I tell him the truth?)
Then Ramadeer called Rani to talk to her.
Ramadeer: "Bitiya, meri baat theek se sun. Abhi tere byah ho gaya hai. Tu Rajawat ghar ki bahu ban gayi hai, bahut zimmedari aayengi tumhare par, lekin darna mat. Sare kaam theek sai kar, Ranisa ko koi bhi narazgi mat pochana. Tujhe pata hai ki agar tu vidhwa ya phir se kunwari ban gayi toh phir gaon mein bahut bezatti ho jayegi, tumhara naam barbaad ho jayega. Iss ke liye tumhe bahut dhyan aur mehnat se bahu ka farz nibhana parenga. Theek hai?"
(Daughter, listen to me carefully. Now you are married. You are the daughter-in-law of the Rajawat family, there will be many responsibilities on you, but do not get scared. Make sure to do all your work properly, Ranisa should not get mad at all. You know how a widow or unmarried/divorced girl gets treated in the village, you would get treated terribly and very humiliated, your name and reputation will be ruined. This is why you need to do all your work with lots of focus and strength and complete your duties as a daughter-in-law. Understood?)
Rani "Ji bauji."
(Yes dad.)
As Veer was listening to their conversation, he heard how divorced women get treated. He felt terrible if Rani would have to go through something like that because of him. Veer felt lots of pity and came to a decision. He decided to not divorce Rani, or at least give her one chance to prove that she can be a good daughter-in-law.
His only worry was about how Ranisa would react to this decision...
Hi guys! Hope you enjoyed the chapter!
So, Rani talks about some "truth", what do you think that is? Does it relate to the past? Is it why she hasn't met her father in ages? Tell me what you think!
Now, Veer doesn't want to divorce Rani, so how do you think Ranisa will react to this?
